ED Team btd Posted August 6, 2014 ED Team Posted August 6, 2014 ok. The track with the speech I'll just leave for myself. I dont see there any harm. In any case, I did not want to offend anyone. And I'll cut off the speech from the music in the sim tomorrow. You'll get it, I hope, in the nearest update. Best regards, Kanstantsin Kuzniatsou (btd) https://soundcloud.com/btd
Kelevra Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Historical simulator, historical content, I see no contradictions here. When you watch an historical documentary you don't expect the music and the speeches to be replace by soothing nap songs and cookies recipes... In most game on the market when you fight as an american soldier you hear american music with propaganda in the back. But I can understand how dora's theme would make some uncomfortable, this part of history is surrounded by fear, legends and shame. I take the Dora's opening theme as dramatic as the epoch was. It recreates what it should have been to be there at that time.
Charly_Owl Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Well, it may be historical, but I feel there really is no need for that kind of content. The original speech was viciously engineered to spread hatred and create a lynch mood. And if you speak German, you do get the drift of what the man is saying, even though it has been garbled. Just listening to the daily news should tell you this sort of stuff falls on fertile soil everywhere. So... my humble opinion: not appropriate and very UNCOOL. Historical atmosphere can be created through other means, as for example has been done to good effect with the sirens. I acknowledge your opinion on the matter, but... really? How is that inappropriate and uncool? Poor taste? The track is very atmospheric and it gives a very interesting tone for one of the darkest, yet fascinating chapters of the history of mankind. The song is dark, menacing and evokes a sinister story. Artistic creativity is something that should be encouraged and I really see none of this hate speech. So yeah, I love what BTD has done with it. We are all flight sim enthusiasts here, and we fly airplanes because we love aviation. Some people will not fly certain types of aircraft because of emotional connections to the nation who flew it, and that is perfectly understandable. But as an aviation fan, I think all aircraft should be flown, experienced and appreciated no matter which side they flew on. The Dora is an incredible machine and my curiosity goes far beyond History books or political affiliations. If you just can't handle the music, there is still a function in the options to turn it off. Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Chuck's Guides on Mudspike Chuck's Youtube Channel Chuck's Patreon

zaelu Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) If the interest of commercial success is pressed by such opinions... I wouldn't be surprised to see in the future only alied planes so people will not be offended by nazis war machines... and their music. Wait until the skinners artists start putting out skins for this plane... "What happens when you are offended? Nothing." MACADEMIC Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I get what you mean BUT dont agree that this medium shouldnt be allowed to use these references, this aircraft had a part in that history, its all linked.. saying that the speech, or parts of it shouldnt be heard is the same as saying this aircraft shouldnt be enjoyed as it was a tool to accomplish those goals back then... And all fairness, it can be turned off, the speech isnt clear and its not used as more than atmosphere for the sim. Didn't say it's not allowed, just said I don't like it :) MAC
ericoh Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Yet another freedom taken for the purpose of standing against freedom taking dictators. Irony.
ED Team NineLine Posted August 6, 2014 ED Team Posted August 6, 2014 BTD, maybe a poll before you make a change? Majority rules... minority can turn the music off. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
fjacobsen Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I think it´s important to step carefully here. Allthough it´s almost 70 years since WW2 ended, there are still alot of feelings involved. Personally I have no trouble with the music, since I prefer the historicaæ background, but I fully understand those who dislike it. This is actually mega disappointing, seeing as I am pretty offended by instances of the hammer and sickle in-game. As someone who is descendant from people who were persecuted in Poland by the Soviets, it really does make me feel sick every time I see the hammer + sickle. My family and I see it as a symbol of great evil and hardship, but it seems like that symbol is okay.

Raptorx7 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Yes this decision should be decided by a poll, I for one see no problem with the music what so ever, it's atmospheric and fits with the time period the plane was flown in.
