Pizzicato
Are we gonna have to pay for the new f 18 map? Probably. (Dependent on how they choose to bundle the various F/A-18-related content). From the DCS 2.0 section of the newsletter: Ability to access new maps that will be sold as separate modules No issues with that from my side. i7-7700K @ 4.9Ghz | 16Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | MSI Z270 Gaming M7 | MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti Gaming X | Win 10 Home | Thrustmaster Warthog | MFG Crosswind pedals | Oculus Rift S
SkateZilla
As I understand it coretex was also working on carrier for their f 18. Is ED and Coretex on the same page with this or are there gonna be 2 different types of carriers? VTJS17_Fire
It simply means that ED has been sitting on their L-39 assets for some time and have decided to proceed with theirs. That's clear. But what will happen with the L-39 by the Virtual Patriots Team? Will we have two DCS L-39 modules? Eldur
I'm sorry, how are you guys arriving at this conclusion? Did I miss something? The other major element of DCS World War II: Europe 1944 is of course the new Normandy map. The team is currently working on a new combat theater map to support DCS: F/A-18C Hornet, but once complete, will be returning to this map. Right in between the P-47 and L-39 cockpit pics. I take it as: They work on a map for the Hornet and once it's done, they'll get back to finishing Normandy.

X93355
I don't think you'll have to buy the F-18C to get the carrier, doesn't make sense. It makes more sense to update it in DCS World so third parties can use the updated model and Carrier dynamics - whatever they end up adding in to it. That would sound logical however if a huge amount of work goes into it and they decide to sell it as an add-on then I would approve of that. Especially if it ends up with a much improved flight deck movements. Oh to see a couple of F-18's shot off the carrier with one of your mate's acting as CAG or LSO. :) InWin S Frame with Asus Z170 | i7-6700K @ 4.5 Water Cooled CPU and Graphics | 16GB DDR4 | GTX1070 | 240GB M.2 SSD | Warthog Hotas | MFG Crosswind | 40" Samsung 4K | CV1 | Replica MB Mk10 Ejection Seat with Gametrix

Pilotasso
I wonder what the new combat theatre to support the F/18 will be? Exciting. Since you and others are relatively new here Ill let you know that somewhere in these threads you can find everything mentioned in the news letter. Starting with the maps. ED has more or less discussed this publically before. There are a few Mediterranean and middle east maps threads from 5-6 years ago. I remember a particular one: Cyprus. (doesn't mean Im right they might have changed plans in the mean time but I woudnt be surprised if is somewhere in that region). About the planes, ED also had a list of possible upcoming modules they released years ago. After several had been taken by 3rd parties (Mirage 2000, F-15E, F-14 Superhornet and others) really the only ones left with enough documentation available were the F-16 and F-18A/C. Last year we had word from Wags who told us we could expect get news about the F-18C module sometime this time of the year. DX11, multicore, multi GPU implementation was discussed also. BadK
I wonder what the new combat theatre to support the F/18 will be? Exciting. If DCS: F/A-18C and the new map are related to a military contract, as some have suggested. I'd be willing to bet that NAS Lemoore or NAS Oceana and their surrounding fields would be in contention, being that both areas are very Hornet relevant to the USN.
