Are we gonna have to pay for the new f 18 map?

Probably. (Dependent on how they choose to bundle the various F/A-18-related content).

From the DCS 2.0 section of the newsletter:

Ability to access new maps that will be sold as separate modules

No issues with that from my side.

As I understand it coretex was also working on carrier for their f 18. Is ED and Coretex on the same page with this or are there gonna be 2 different types of carriers?

I have no info on that,

Thanks to ED for all these fantastic news!

But on the L-39, I'm very surprised. The Virtual Patriots Team has been working so long and hard.

Does that mean, that we'll have two L-39 in DCS, with different titles? I just hope that all the work for that 3rd Party Developer pays. :(

It simply means that ED has been sitting on their L-39 assets for some time and have decided to proceed with theirs.

That's clear.

But what will happen with the L-39 by the Virtual Patriots Team?

Will we have two DCS L-39 modules?

Who will buy the second one (by 3rd Party), when ED releases their module at first?

1- That is up to VPT, they certainly have a license and nothing is stopping them from completing and releasing their module

2- If they release, yes.

2.1... no different than a game like FSX

3- If they do a great product, I'm sure many will buy

I'm sorry, how are you guys arriving at this conclusion? Did I miss something?

The other major element of DCS World War II: Europe 1944 is of course the new Normandy map. The team is currently working on a new combat theater map to support DCS: F/A-18C Hornet, but once complete, will be returning to this map.

Right in between the P-47 and L-39 cockpit pics. I take it as: They work on a map for the Hornet and once it's done, they'll get back to finishing Normandy.

I don't think you'll have to buy the F-18C to get the carrier, doesn't make sense. It makes more sense to update it in DCS World so third parties can use the updated model and Carrier dynamics - whatever they end up adding in to it.

That would sound logical however if a huge amount of work goes into it and they decide to sell it as an add-on then I would approve of that. Especially if it ends up with a much improved flight deck movements.

Oh to see a couple of F-18's shot off the carrier with one of your mate's acting as CAG or LSO. :)

Since you and others are relatively new here Ill let you know that somewhere in these threads you can find everything mentioned in the news letter.

Starting with the maps. ED has more or less discussed this publically before. There are a few Mediterranean and middle east maps threads from 5-6 years ago. I remember a particular one: Cyprus. (doesn't mean Im right they might have changed plans in the mean time but I woudnt be surprised if is somewhere in that region).

About the planes, ED also had a list of possible upcoming modules they released years ago. After several had been taken by 3rd parties (Mirage 2000, F-15E, F-14 Superhornet and others) really the only ones left with enough documentation available were the F-16 and F-18A/C. Last year we had word from Wags who told us we could expect get news about the F-18C module sometime this time of the year.

DX11, multicore, multi GPU implementation was discussed also.

wow.. this latest DCS newsletter...

made my jaw drop 10 times over.

probably the two most notable items for me in this recent news letter is

a) EDGE coming in 2014

b) multiple players in one aircraft.

my dream is to have as follows (roadmap)

two simpits with tactile transducer system (DONE)

two high end computers ( budgeted for a 2015/16 purchase)

oculus rift (possible 2015 release)

DCS World 2.0 with EDGE (by end of 2014)

Belsimtek AH-1 cobra Module (waiting for official annoucement)

i can wait for the day when i am flying a AH-1W with a buddy as a co-pilot gunner, in a multiplayer session in VIRTUAL REALITY made possible by the oculus rift.

the future is bright, and near.

If DCS: F/A-18C and the new map are related to a military contract, as some have suggested. I'd be willing to bet that NAS Lemoore or NAS Oceana and their surrounding fields would be in contention, being that both areas are very Hornet relevant to the USN.

Just a thought :)
