Ordered - It would be interesting to know how many sales you get. Have always wondered how profitable creating 3rd party aircraft for DCS is. How many hours has gone into the project.

I'd assume about Two Weeks.

There are four of them though, so really about two months worth of dev time. ;)

Your estimation is too conservative... Not everybody who prepurchases also post here.

And I think some of the money goes to ED? Not sure though.

I ordered it even though I'm still learning the A10C. I buy all the Modules, but haven't had much time for any others while learning the A10C. Hopefully, when I have learned all there is to know about the A10C, I will have a better understanding of aircraft and learn the rest a bit quicker.

And I think some of the money goes to ED? Not sure though.

I would guess ED gets around 50%, no les than 30% and no more than 70% of third party products.

Some more intelligent guessing:

LN should sell around 5,000 to 7,000 copies on the first year, without being to optimistic ($200,000 to $350,000 to split with ED).

Why?

There are around 50,000 ED Clients:

There are 53,800 members in the forum. There must be around the same number of actual clients and there are much more potential clients to come.

Since the new ED shop order numbers ED had sold over 70,000 copies of products (over $2,000,000 if the average price is $30). Check order numbers in your modules. This doesn't take in account products sold on Steam and with the older system.

Over 12,000 TM Warthog Hotas joysticks where sold (this info is only from their serial numbers). Most of buyers would be ED clients. If 10% DCS clients have a TM Warthog then total ED clients are 120,000. If 20% have a TM then total ED clients are around 60,000. (I don't think that more than 20% of DCS users have a TM ).

Numbers ad up both ways, ED should have at least 50,000 to 100,000 clients.

There is no way no know how many ED clients will buy the Mig-21 but I will guess that at least a 10% to 15% of us, ED clients, will buy the Mig within the first year. Thats 5,000 to 15,000 copies. Taking in account future discounts lets say that the average price is $35. That gives you $125,000 to $525,000 in sales. Best case scenario over the years: $3,500,000, If total ED clients are 100,000 and the 100% of them buy the Mig.

Im jut guessing but Im quite sure they are going to sell much more than a few hundred copies.

Good luck LN!

Then let's hope they don't have to pay more than their living from that! $350.000 per year. 6-7 people in the company. Subtract ED share at only 20% is $280.000 at an equal share it's $40.000 before taxes etc. that is... if they have to maintain an office or such, or have to hire external help... ouch! Given the amount of research and work going into this over the years I hope they have much more customers!!!!!

I am not sure if number of forum users is an accurate indication of potential market. ED accounts and forum accounts are seperate actually. For example, among 5 people I fly online with, I am the only one with a forum account as far as I'm aware.

And many that buy wouldn't post here about the purchase.

I'd say for their opening module, things look potentially positive for LN so far :)

Dumb question - when the BIS gets released on Thursday, will this require some sort of update from ED?

yes but likely only small update)

Difficult to say. The AI model has been in the game since the last update, so no integration is necessary. However, they might want to release some small patch with hot fixes, while they're at it.

The AI model in the current public version of DCS is an old model, so they will want update to it I think)
