Smokeless Missiles

The missiles (below screenshots of the R-3S, R-13M, R-13M1 and R-60A) seem to produce very little visible smoke. While you can see a faint grey tail when viewed against suitable backgrounds, it is nothing like what I would expect from these missiles.

 

I am not certain I should post this in the bugs section since I do not have the proof at hand that this is wrong for these type of missiles. But considering that smokeless engines where prominent features of AMRAAM and later Sidewinders, I have the strong suspicion that this is incorrect for these older weapons.

I've wondered this myself. I was under the impression old Soviet missiles produced a hell of a lot of smoke.
