Hi all, hi Leatherneck.

There seems to be a mistake in logic of the tactical drop switch. If the tactical drop switch is off we couldn't release bombs in normal mode only emergency. That's a User's supposition.

Another one thing from User.

A missile can't be dropped without a guided missile launcher. It's not provided by the construction. A missile can be dropped only with a guided missile launcher. It's the same principle as in A-10.

Not sure how it works on the Mi-21, on other aircraft, it depends where the weapons is loaded ( type of suspension) and type of weapon. Some stations, are bolted to the airframe/wing. Emergency bypasses some of the safeties.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

My post was lost. I'll write again.

In real MiG-21 A-A missiles can be dropped only with their launchers. In modern russian combat jets there is a technology of an unguided launch. You can launch missiles in an unguided mode if you need to offload them, for example as in Ka-50 vikhr' launchers.

I'll take a stab at translation.

I think by the word "User" he means an actual pilot?

If the Tac Drop switch is Safe, you can't just pickle the bombs anyway. Only emergency jettison will make the bomb leave the rail in that config.

I also believe he is specifying that you can't just jettison an AA missile. You have to activate the engine to make it leave the rail, so, like the vikhrs in the Ka-50, the emergency jettison will result in an unguided ballistic launch.

I notice with all the switches set and a nuke loaded as soon as I flip the switch to special the bomb is released every time.

Ask Jesus for Forgiveness before you takeoff :pilotfly:!

Yes. Is my translation so unclear for you?

If we talk about modern russian AA missiles that's correct, but MiG-21 doesn't have such guided missile launchers. 21th can jettison AA missiles only with the launchers together.

You mean the whole mounting rail comes off with it then? Leaving just the small fin of the hard point left on the wing? Or does the fin come off too, leaving the wing completely "clean"?

There is the aviation terminology, a guided missile launcher is a device to which a missile is mounted. It is being attached to a hardpoint. After jettison a hardpoint continue to remain with a wing (i.e. a launcher flies away with a missile). That's right for old-generation missiles, hardpoints. I hope you understand now.

It's getting a bit confusing. So, going by the terminology from the picture above, You say the missiles should drop with "launchers", yes?

:D yep. However now we have some inaccuracies in the game, i.e. those missiles can be jettisoned only with the launchers in real life.

I've always heard them referred to as rails, which attach to hard points.

As far I understand 'rail' is more common name for launchers. Those are probably used with unguided rockets too.
