Never seen this before. :)

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Last night (Sept.3rd), while flying in Virtual Aerobatics server happily, suddenly some textures have gone. :) Screenshots are what I've seen. I couldn't even see chat or bottom texts. When I hit ESC, all screen has gone green, I've found Disconnect by guessing. :) Re-entered quickly and everything was nice...

No crash or anything, so no report. Actually I'm not reporting this to ED for fixing something. Just posting...

Check your GFX card isn't about to pop/overheating, i've had some that went like that, the textures are dropped for some reason. Check it's temp.

If it's not your graphics card just be relieved it's not an expensive issue.

Looks like system ram or gfx memory corruption.

A game restart solved the problem I suppose..

First of all, it is not GFX overheat. It doesn't go above ~70°C around and also alarm was set for CPU and GPU.

Devrim: low gfx memory or too high memory (over)clock...
I have 16GB 1600MHz mems, but 1GB GTX mem. I thought this was a server crash, but you're right, it must be lack of GPU memory. Because I flew with MiG-21BiS for a while, before this disaster. :)

could haave been a driver crash and restart while playing, I think NV is capable of resetting itself while in use.

most cards that I ever bought broke after 2-4 years, some indicated it by pixels going nuts, but not as a pattern as in your picture, the pixels have a whitish like glimmer color and a few days weeks later those cards died. Some died while playing, pitch black sudden death and only a few ever lived long enough to get replaced or put to rest, those usually were Asus originals I must say, but that is years ago. ..and those were only my cards, not those I sold. The higher the specs the sooner they die, that is the only clear thing I can say.

I guess they arent ment to live longer than warranty lasts one could assume ***cough

Interesting, do you tweak, overclock them? Or are you running performance hungry games for hours everyday?

Usually my graphics cards are being replaced after 2-3 years and either used in my second rig, or a friends or family member PC for another two years plus.

Of course I run my gaming rig mostly 2-3 days a week for some 4-6 hours... normal internet, communication etc. is mostly done on a separate notebook.

  • 4 months later...

Devrim, I have gotten the exact same thing twice on my rig. I think it's a memory leak OR the card(s) are resetting. Both times I had been flying for a couple hours.

Edit: I don't overclock my cards. I have two in SLI that are idle even at the highest setting DCS has. Both times, it was a slow slide into green. First a texture went missing, then more textures, then text was blocked out, then most of the cockpit left, then total green.

The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

I couldn't decide; There's something wrong with the server, DCS World or the graphics cards that are sold in Turkey. :D :D :D

I was on VA server recently and had this happen too. Pretty sure it's not the gfx card then.
