Aussie Sabre Skins remake / redo / repair

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) flew the CAC Sabre Mk 32 "Avon Sabre" produced by the The Commonwealth Aviation Corporation (CAC).

Australia never flew the North American Aviation F-86 that DCS has in the sim, at present.

The most obvious physical difference between the NAA Sabre and the CAC Sabre Mk 32 is the Two 30mm ADEN cannon as opposed to the six .50 Cal and the bigger more powerful Rolls Royce jet engine.

I have ( with a little bit of license) remade my original Sabre skins for the latest DCS World stable version,

the Black Panther 76 Sqn RAAF, and the two Black Diamonds 75 Sqn RAAF skins are as authentic as i can get them,

however the drop tanks are not chequered but striped - the main reason is that the tanks

are a little mis-aligned in the skin and lining cheques up is a bit of a bum deal if you havnt got the patience,

also i have seen the rarer striped tank version in pictures as well. So i took the easy , more aesthetic way out!

I have also used a little bit of license in the pilots badges and insignia, they display contemporary, old and the traditional Sqn insignia of those units.

The camo versions are fictitious for Australia and the SEA Cam skin which was first made by "Nuck", that he let me copy for Australia

are great skins that i like to think we may have used if we had the Sabre in Vietnam and other places.

HISTORY of the Australian CAC Sabre Mk 32 "Avon Sabre"

The Commonwealth Aviation Corporation (CAC) Avon Sabre was a unique aircraft in Australian military aviation history. It was the first all metal jet fighter to

be constructed in this country. The decision to produce the North American Aviation (NAA) F-86 Sabre, fitted with the

Rolls-Royce Avon turbo-jet engine and upgraded armament in the form of two 30mm ADEN cannons, saw CAC embark upon a

major re-design program. Because the Avon engine was lighter, shorter and of greater diameter than the General Electric J34

engine which powered the NAA Sabre, CAC incorporated major structural changes in the Sabre fuselage, resulting in a total

redesign of almost 40% of the fuselage.

The Avon Sabre gave sports car like performance as well as packing quite a punch. ln service the aircraft proved to be versatile

and although no trainer variant was produced in Australia pilot conversion proceeded with reasonable speed. As NAA

produced modifications to the basic design these were incorporated in CAC built aircraft. The slatted wing was replaced

with the famous ‘six-three’ wing. Sidewinder missiles were fitted to the aircraft and even ground attack missions were incorporated

within the aircraft’s repertoire.

The Sabre served operationally with 3, 75, 76, 77 & 79 Squadrons RAAF, and 2 OTU & 3 OCU RAAF between 1953-68. They were

based in Australia and overseas, serving in Ubon, Thailand and Butterworth, Malaysia under mutual defense treaties. The

survivors were then refurbished and supplied to the Indonesian and Malaysian Air Forces.

Download skins from here > https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1857232/

Installation:

Recommended: Download and use JSGME from here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98607

The pack comes in a ready made JSGME ready folder structure, most people i know use JSGME ,

and all you need to do is just unzip the pack and drop the "Mod" into JSGME and your ready to go.

Not recommended : If you dont use JSGME, remove the skins folders individually

and place them in your game at \DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\F-86\Liveries\f-86f sabre

Grateful thanks to:

SkateZilla's brilliant Templates,

And Jocko417 for his black instrument panel which the Australian CAC Sabre did indeed have.

Nuck for his South East Asia Skin (SEA)

Hope they make the grade !

Enjoy

Best regards

Great work mate! Keep them coming! I need some time to get back into skinning (have only done some car skins for GTR and WTCC etc) but until then, it is great that there are people willing to have a crack at some Aus skins. Thank you.

I must apologize to those who have downloaded the skins, Saber42 quite rightly informed me that there was a fault with the turbine producing a "clipping effect". I didnt notice it. Anyway i have rectified the problem and have uploaded the repaired skins. They are ready now. Once again my apologies for stuffing everyone around.
