it is either a varient of the F-4 that the marines never flew like the F-4E, or the F-14

The next project isn't an F-4, people really need to let it go already. Cobra's statement below also likely eliminates an F-14 as well since the RIO is the same issue that eliminated the F-4 as the next project.

We love the F-4E. Really, who doesn't?

However, I think it goes without any saying how difficult building an aircraft such as the F-4 really is.

Not only is it an incredibly complex aircraft, but just the additional gameplay considerations that have to be accounted for as well: like building an AI RIO for you when you're flying Solo.

Right now we have already partially transitioned into our next project.

Some of you will be pleased, some of you will be very disappointed and some of you will, without a doubt, want our heads on a pike.

In many ways, creation of FS aircraft is comparable to art.

If we were driven by market demand alone, the F-4 would probably be at the top of our list.

However, it is important for us to follow our passion, vision and if we are to invest thousands upon thousands of man hours into building DCS aircraft, we need to do something we genuinely care about.

It is the only way to ensure that everyone really wins.

Cobra said next plane is something close to their name Letherneck(if i understood correctly) and what i found after a fast search was this:

"Grumman F6F Hellcats drawn from U.S. reserves were used extensively in Flying Leathernecks."

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Leathernecks

:/

Also a drawing of a Hellcat on the leathernecks title page.

Except Cobra already said it isn't one flown by USMC and Hellcats were flown by USMC pilots in WWII. So our guesses of F-5, Harrier and Hellcat are wrong.

"Hurled headlong flaming from the ethereal sky; With hideous ruin and combustion down;
To bottomless perdition, there to dwell; In adamantine chains and penal fire"

(RIG info is outdated, will update at some point) i5 @3.7GHz (OC to 4.1), 16GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 970 4GB, TrackIR 5 & TrackClip Pro, TM Warthog HOTAS, VKB T-Rudder Mk.IV, Razer Blackshark Headset, Obutto Ozone

its frustrating because he said their next aircraft was "closely related to their studio name" (leatherneck - a nickname for the USMC -

) - but then (somewhere - source?) people are saying they've said it WAS NOT flown by marines....

That was the post where Cobra corrected himself, saying that it was not flown by the USMC.

Also; I managed to bork the "marine" part of our next project, it was actually not flown by the USMC. It is an aircraft you'd expect to have been; but wasn't. ;)

It may or may not have two engines.

ah! thx john

looked around - found this

thk u for clearing that up for me..

--

so, its an aircraft he (mistakenly) thought the USMC flew - but didn't --- you'd think it was flown by the USMC though..

hmm

i'm thinking short-range, smaller, A-G capable..

they seem to like jets, but not current-day modern -- 3rd generation/vietnam or thereabouts..

(what else)

Or maybe a Tomcat... one can dream right?

Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills.

I´m not very sure, but funny enough I watched Top Gun this evening on german TV, and Jester has a blue helmet with gold stars, although it seems a bit different...

Yes, he knows how to play his puppets, lol

Provided their next module is as good as the Mig21 I'll be happy!

Personally I'd like a suitable opponent to the Mig but which one? F4 would be great but as stated it's not gonna happen yet...

Skyhawk was the mainstay of Marines, if we are talking about an aircraft that wasn't flown by Marines, may be it's an A-7 ? :)

Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V

I really think it is the F-105.

- Air force only, no marines

- may or may not have two engines depending on how you look at it (two inlets, one engine. If you don't know you might think it has two engines when standing in front of it)

- apparently flew in a grim reaper livery
