lmp
except if the new guys approaches to problems/tasks with a different but more effective vision If a programmer is outright stuck, or has an important decision to make, he consults his colleagues. That's how it works in every healthy company and that's how it's been everywhere I worked. But if a team is not understaffed, permanently assigning more programmers to it just causes a big mess. And stalls other projects where the reassigned programmers would actually be useful. I've seen this sort of mistakes made and generally everybody in the industry learns quickly that certain tasks take longer and there's only so much you can do about it. More hands on board means better in some occupations but not in other. Apples
"The images of this newsletter come from a very early, first pass of the NTTR map in DCS World 2. Please note that these are very much work in progress." Why are we seeing "Very early WIP" screenshots? Isn't NTTR almost complete? You put a very early version of NTTR into world 2.0. Im kinda lost! I agree that this is a little confusing, but I think the important bit is "The images of this newsletter come from a very early, first pass of the NTTR map in DCS World 2." This lines up with the comment a couple of sentences earlier "In fact, the NTTR map has been successfully integrated into DCS World 2" What I take from this is that it's only an "early first pass" in the sense that it's only just been integrated into the new engine. Could be totally wrong, though. i7-7700K @ 4.9Ghz | 16Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | MSI Z270 Gaming M7 | MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti Gaming X | Win 10 Home | Thrustmaster Warthog | MFG Crosswind pedals | Oculus Rift S

The physical map is built, what you are seeing as a first pass is the integration into DCS World. leafer
So what is this "first pass" thing? Is it compiling after you're done coding? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
ED Team NineLine Posted October 31, 2014 ED Team Share Posted October 31, 2014 I think its just in reference to this being the first attempt at integration. Based on the results they might have to tweak and recompile or whatever... just stressing its early WIP. 9.JG27 DavidRed
interesting for me is, that i dont really see a difference in the looks between now, integrated into dcs, and the videos and screenshots we have seen a year ago.
upupandaway
For a "first attempt" and "early WIP", I think it looks outstanding. I think the look of the map is very much defined by the kind of textures and assets they put into the game, not so much by EDGE, shaders and post-processing which should be rather subtle, given the nature of DCS. And if you look at the images before color correction etc. for example, the difference is quite noticeable. The road patterns of Las Vegas in the screenshot of the editor map -> there is parctically no noticeable repetition in the details. This is actually a very good sign as what was shown a year ago was from terrain editor and what we are seeing now is pics taken from within DCS 2 meaning integrated and much more representative of the final product.. "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." CoBlue
Is the visibility issue of other aircrafts addressed in EDGE? Right now it's impossible to spot an enemy, without flak giving them away. Obviously most important for props & Sabre, but wouldn't hurt for modern fighters too. i7 8700k@4.7, 1080ti, DDR4 32GB, 2x SSD , HD 2TB, W10, ASUS 27", TrackIr5, TMWH, X-56, GProR.
