BBQ Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 (edited) This might be a "feature", and not a bug -- sometimes the altimeter and speed instrument show rapidly falling values, though aircraft if maintaining speed and altitude, verified by external view data. Is this expected under certain conditions? Towards the end of the video, watch the instruments suddenly reset back to normal -- foobarl.trk Edited November 23, 2014 by BBQ

Aginor Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 It is a repaint, by Mainstay. You can find it here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=133756 He also did a green and a black one. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
iFoxRomeo Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 You have not switched on your pitot heating. You can see that the heating for the standby/emergency pitot tube is switched off. Your pitot tubes are frozen. So it is a feature. That sould not happen in RL in these weather conditions, but DCS is special in that point. Post the track you used for the video. BBQ Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 Track posted. I wondered if they had modeled the pitot freezing -- though IIRC, the mission was in the summer, and around Sochi. xxJohnxx Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 If we ignore the fact that you forget to turn on the nose cone power switch, the auxiliary hydro pump and the trimmer, we can assume that this is the affects caused by pitot freezing, which indeed seems to be simulated. 51GRIZZLY Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Yep ... Pitot freeze is simulated ... thats why i have added "turn on Pitot heat" as an addendum to my check list.:joystick:
Dolphin887 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 This is a Pitot freezing effect. You would normally first recognize it by canopy freezing effect - but unfortunately - it's not modelled yet. Freezing could happen regardless of the season if the certain local temperature/humidity/speed conditions are met for relatively prolonged time (at least few minutes in case of jet fighter). Power through superb knowledge, training and teamwork. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
