A-10 Campaign: The Gagra Offensive

Recommended Posts

I started out building a campaign but when I found out that static objects are only supported in the first mission, I ddecided to make a mission pack instead.

http://home.planet.nl/~monfro/666th/lomac-missions/A-10A_gagra-offensive.zip

You will fly the A-10 in 13 missions with Gudauta as your temporary homebase.

Sitrep:

-------

In 2007 Abkahzia lacked the financial resources to maintain its (self-proclaimed) independant-state status.

Now (spring 2008) most of former Abkahzia has fallen back into Georgian hands.

An exception is west-Abkhazia, stretching from Gagra (some 17nm from Georgian airbase Gudauta) to the

russian border near Adler.

Abkhaz seperatists are doing everything they can to win back lost territory. The militairy hardware they use

is obviously being financed by the Russians allthough they deny any involvement.

In the last week operations at Gudauta Airbase where ceased due to the presence of Abkhaz seperatists driving

around in Shilka's. They even used shoulder launched missiles against armourless Georgian planes taking off

from Gudauta.

Georgian officials have asked for UN support in this matter.

Condensed briefing:

Mission 1.

---------

You are cruising from Turkey to Gudauta and have orders to provide CAS so that incoming US planes can land safely.

You are cleared to land once the two supporting aircraft (C-17A) have landed safely.

Mission 2.

---------

An Abkhaz EWR site 19nm north-west of Gudauta is hampering future missions.

Take it out!

I'ts foggy but Visibility on the target area is good.

Mission 3.

---------

The militairy hardware the seperatists are using poses a serious threat and our main focus is to stop the armour coming in from Russia.

SAM's have been detected both at Adler city (near the Georgian/Russian border) and Gagra city.

You are tasked to take out the bridge of the main road from Adler to Gagra. The target locatation is choosen to minimize exposure to S2A threats. Luckely there's hardly any wind so dumb-bombs will suffice.

Mission 4.

---------

Intel reports missile launchers along the main road from Gantiadi to Gagra.

Since the bridge has been destroyed this convoy must allready have been hiding on Abkhaz territory.Search and destroy the convoy.

Mission 5.

---------

A recon flight report SA-11 launchers being borded on train wagons. With the main road from Adler to Gagra out of commision, our next target it the railroad from Russia to Gagra.

Mission 6.

----------

With the transport routes destroyed, the import of heavy armour has come to a halt.

Georgian officials claim that hand-weapons and shoulder launched missile launchers are being produced in a factory in the Abkhaz town of Bzyb' (only 10nm west of Gudauta).

Besides this factory, other (less obvious buildings) might be used for producing weapons. Georgian parlement has requested us to make sure that the distribution of electric power to Galgra city is stopped immediatly.

Your secundairy targets are therefor two power distribution buildings; One at Bzyb' city and one at Galgra city.

Mission 7.

----------

An incoming recon flight of two Ukrain Su-24MR's reports 2 convoys heading from Gagra to Bzyb' city. They seem to be artillery battalions and we assume they will try to take position west of the river that seperates free and occupied Abkhazia.

You're flight comprises four A-10A's; Flight 'Ford' will take out the first convoy they encounter.

Flight Dodge (your flight) must take out the second convoy heading towards Bzyb' city.

Mission 8.

----------

Despite our previous CAS missions, two Abkhaz artillery battalions have taken position west of the river that seperates free and occupied Abkahzia. One battalion is located north- and one south of the bridge between Bzyb' and Kaldahvara city.

They have just voilently opened fire on various buildings in Aladizia and Kaldahvara city.

You will fly CAS and engage enemy forces north-west of the bridge.

Another A-10A flight will attack enemy forces south-west of the bridge. 4 Su-25T's from Sukhumi.

Mission 9.

----------

Analysis of the data gathered by the Su-24MR's show that the gorge north of Bzyb' city leads to a

mountain lake where militairy hardware is stored and maintained.

You will lead a four-ship Ground-Attack mission to take out an ammunition dump and communications center.

Mission 10.

----------

More militairy trucks have been spotted driving in and out the gorge north of Bzyb' city.

You will fly a S&D mission through the gorge. Some SAM activity and patrolling Ka-50's are to be expected.

Mission 11.

-----------

The Abkhaz Ka-50's we encounter lately are becoming a major problem.

Turkey's RF-4's that arrived yesterday escorting a C-130, took off early this morning to search for the Ka-50's base.

The returning RF-4's have located the base some 10nm north-west of Galgra, close to the Russian border.

You are assigned to destroy any Ka-50 at this base.

Mission 12.

-----------

The F-18C's that escorted you to the Ka-50 base, noticed militairy trucks traveling to and from a factory-and storage fascility 5nm north of the Ka-50 base.

Intel confirms trucks coming from the Gantiadi area, re-supplying ground forces currently occupying Gagra city.

F-16C's are to fly a strike mission on this industrial site while you are tasked to S&D vehicules leaving and entering the site.

Mission 13.

-----------

Russia seems to resupply Abkhaz troops around the clock and we simply are not equiped to bring such a huge amount of militairy hardware to a halt. We will evacuate Gudauta Airbase immediatly and relocate to Dandra Airbase.

You are tasked to destroy the bridge at Bzyb' city, in a last effort to slow Abkhaz troops down.

I'm downloading now too. Thanks Birdy!

I had never heard that Static Objects are only supported in the first mission of a campaign! I can't believe that! I'll have to give it a try...

I encountered the same problem while working on my campaign. Whatever static object you set in the campaign's first mission, they will show up in every following mission but not on the map so you cannot remove them.

This way you cannot change the static aircraft on airbases for instance which is very annoying.

i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg.

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

Annoyed by my posts? Please consider donating. Once the target sum is reached, I'll be off to somewhere nice I promise not to post from. I'd buy that for a dollar!
