Name: Doctor’s Operation Piggy In The Middle

Author: =Doctor=

Mission type: MP+SP

Controllable: A-10A/A-10C/Ka-50/SU-25/SU-25T/MiG-21Bis/ MiG-15bis & F-86F Sabre

Quick Summary: Hi folks, this is a new mission of mine. It features Air to Ground, Air to Air & SEAD. Hope you’ll enjoy it. Greets, Doctor.

Question: "What if all human pilots in my session only fly A-10C and/or KA-50 and/or SU-25T? Won't we get shot down by the hostile fighters?"

Answer: ( If you want to be "surprised", don't click on "show"! )

Enemy fighters will just spawn, if own MiG-21Bis and / or F-86F Sabre are in the game ( and enter certain areas ) ! So if no human pilot controls a MiG-21Bis or F-86F Sabre and provides CAP, this is just an Air To Ground & SEAD mission. If at least one human player controls a MiG-21Bis or F-86F Sabre, the Air To Air part can be activated additionally. :pilotfly:

III. Situation Report

Enemy ground troops have crossed our border and advanced deep into the country. They secured three positions by establishing bases there. Those are:

Waypoint 1: A train station at the Tsalka Plateau , south of the local water reservoir. This is the main junction for the enemies’ resupplies. A large part of this war material is stored in the local shelters. ~4 nautical miles northwest of the train station, a SA-3 site has been established.

Waypoint 2: A total of four chemical and ammunition factories for manufacturing war material have been fallen into the enemies’ hands. ~2 nautical miles northwest of the business park, a SA-6 site has been established.

Waypoint 3: A well equipped FARP with two start and landing platforms. This base serves as main junction for the enemies’ reinforcements, which are transported by helicopters. The outlying base can only communicate with the outside world by using a communication tower. ~4 nautical miles north of the base, a SA-3 site has been established.

We get more and more information about enemy troop movements in the west of our country - eyewitness reports of local citizens indicate modern air defense units.

We also have secured information, that the enemy possesses fighter planes of the types F-86F Sabre, MiG-15, MiG-21Bis and F-4 Phantom II. We don’t know the total number of those machines, as well as the number of the machines, which are ready for combat at the moment. Barrier Combat Air Patrols (BARCAP) have been sighted in the north, south and west of the country.

IV. Tasking

1.1. Destroy the SA-3 site at waypoint 1

1.2. Destroy the cargo train at waypoint 1

1.3. Destroy all shelters at waypoint 1

2.1. Destroy the SA-6 site at waypoint 2

2.2. Destroy all four factories at waypoint 2

3.1. Destroy the SA-3 site at waypoint 3

3.2. Destroy the communication tower at waypoint 3

3.3. Destroy all helicopters at waypoint 3

4.1. MiG-15, MiG-21 & F-86F Sabre provide Combat Air Patrol (CAP) among the waypoints 1, 2 & 3.

III. Ausgangslage

IV. Auftragslage

1.1. Zerstören Sie die SA-3-Stellung bei Wegpunkt 1

1.2. Zerstören Sie den Güterzug bei Wegpunkt 1

1.3. Zerstören Sie alle Bunker bei Wegpunkt 1.

2.1. Zerstören Sie die SA-6-Stellung bei Wegpunkt 2

2.2. Zerstören Sie alle vier Fabriken bei Wegpunkt 2

3.1. Zerstören Sie die SA-3-Stellung bei Wegpunkt 3

3.2. Zerstören Sie den Funkturm bei Wegpunkt 3

3.3. Zerstören Sie alle Helikopter bei Wegpunkt 3

4.1. MiG-15, MiG-21 & F-86F Sabre gewährleisten Luftraumüberwachung (CAP) zwischen den Wegpunkten 1, 2 & 3.

IMPORTANT - This Mission uses the following skins for aircraft:

1. Fictional Slovenian AF Skin ( made by Beefdork ) for red/hostile F-86F Sabre:

Download: Fictional Slovenian AF Skin F-86F Sabre

What happens if you don´t install this skin: Mission will work, but hostile F-86F Sabre will fly with U.S. Airforce Skin ( silver ); this kills immersion, as this is your own coalition.

2. Summer Digital Camouflage Skin ( made by: "Unknown" ) for blue/own SU-25T:

Download: Summer Digital Camouflage Skin SU-25T

What happens if you don´t install this skin: Mission will work, but you will fly the SU-25T with a standard skin, not the really cool Digital Camo Skin :smilewink:.

thanks for this mission, I'm a big fan of Su-25T. Will definitely host this for my squad over next weekend.

Question though: mission and Sabre skin downloaded fine - supposed Su-25T download link points out to mission download, not the skin. Could you fix it?

Thanks.

getting error extracting Su-25T skin. Could you maybe upload it as a zip/rar folder instead of making dropbox do it? Seems like it breaks it.

Anyone having this issue?

Edit: downloading individual skin parts and putting them into same folder @bazar/liveries/su-25T worked.

In version RC3, i´ve fixed some major trigger issues. This affects the mission progress in general as well as the air to air part. So forget the versions RC1 & RC2 and fly RC3! :smilewink:

Mission status is still "Release Candidate", so if you guys recognize any issues ( ... especially in the air to air part ... ), please make me aware of them. Kind regards, Doctor.

[Fixed] Annoying. I can confirm this bug and will try to find a solution. In the meanwhile, this mission shouldn't be hosted in multiplayer, as clients can't see numerous objectives. Thank you, Markeebo. [Fixed]

Possible work-around ----- have the host do the objective killing. Let the clients handle SAMs and armor. Not ideal, but at least you get to fly it Multiplayer.

Fun mission Doctor.

New version (1.00) is up. "Client Issue" is history!

If anyone of you will build an own mission and the "Client Issue" occurs, this might be the solution:

Too many static objects have been placed!

In my mission, i made a Farp with a kind of wall around it. The wall was build by hundreds of containers ("Cargo red"). That looked like this (just ignore the red circles!):

dylvc3z4.jpg

When the mission was hosted in a multiplayer game, only the host could see the static objects (buildings etc.), i have placed. For all clients, those objects were invisible. This affected all static objects (placed by me!) in the mission - those of the blue coalition, those of the red coalition, all over the map - not only in a specific area.

To solve this issue, i deleted lots of those containers (static objects) and redesigned the Farp a little bit. Now it looks like this:

flk3jxrh.jpg

Host and all clients now can see all static objects. So it seems, that there is a general maximum ammount of static objects in a DCS World Mission.

I don't know if this problem / solution has been posted somewhere. If not, these lines may be a help for the next mission builder, who has to deal with this issue.

EDIT:

With the solution stated above, i was able to avoid the "client issue" in the beginning of the mission. For those clients, who joined in an earlier phase of the mission, this issue did not appear. But for clients, who joined in a later phase ( after ~2 hours ), it appeared. So there were some clients in the session, who could see all placed buildings, and there were clients, who couldn't.

So in version 1.05 of the mission, i've deleted alot more static objects at waypoint 3. And it seems, that the whole session of the mission is free of the "client issue".

Waypoint 3 now looks like this:

  • 4 weeks later...

Quick Question Doc. I have been running this mission off and on for a few weeks and we have never gotten past SP1. We clear the defenses and kill all of the vehicles but the Shelters just wont die.

Have Tried:

kh-29T

kh29L

kh25ML

AGM-65G

Mk84s

GBU10

A suggestion or two on correct choice of ordinance would be greatly appreciated.

.....to load a new mission after this one has been finished? Server host has to add a new trigger-action (in mission editor) with the local path to the next mission.

Doc,

My vSquadron played this for the first time last night. Great work! Question about one of the helos... It would not die... Is that a "normal" glitch?

We are going to try more of your missions. Again, we all loved it. Especially the fighters in the group, kept them engag d for the whole session.

Thank you for your feedback, SageOT.

I think there might be two possible reasons, why the helicopter did not die:

1. Local issue in your multiplayer session ( first time, i hear about this glitch ).

...or...

2. You used guns, mavericks, vikhr, ..... against the heli. These weapons ( in DCS World ) often shred helicopters and planes on the ground into lots of pieces, but don't let them die. I can recommend to use GBUs or similar bombs against those parking a/c.

Kind regards, Doctor.

Is there an end trigger or way of recycling the mission once the objectives have been destroyed?

Added in v. 3.00!

..................g) New trigger / automatic (15 min. delayed) mission reload after 10 hours or when accomplished (just delete the last 9 triggers in the list, if you don't need this function)

:D

Are you looking at any 1.5 conversions or is it just too much b** ache with 1.5 the way it is?

Yes, i'm planning to convert my missions to the new DCS version. Like always in DCS matters, this will probably cost more time than first expected :smilewink: and i don't want to spent it in vain. So i will wait for a stable version (1.5/2.0) of the sim/mission editor.

Kind regards, Doctor.
