Benchmark Tests for Flaming Cliffs etc

Dear ED Team,

 

Users of Flaming Cliffs have a confusing time comparing the relative performance of their systems. I know it would be useful for all of us if we knew the capability rankings of hardware and software combinations.

 

This idea came to me when I heard speculation about "performance hits" with the Z800 visor. I believe the best way to cut to the "truth" would be to have a demo benchmark test which could provide decent game statistics which we could objectively compare.

 

Such a benchmark would help ED because of all the beta testers you will have, as well as correctly influencing the expectations of current and prospective users.

we could use a standarized demotrack and check the lowest and highest fps...

True, but you'd needs 2 tracks, one for Su25T and one for any/all other A/C...since 25T uses higher res skins + AFM stress on CPU.....OR.....a track with all of the above? two seperate tracks would be useful as some (most?) ppl dont fly the Frog, so they could get accurate FPS for their rig/their use...and the other track for ppl (like me :D) who do fly the Frog (I get abput 50-60fps offline and 35-50 online).

 

Just a thought anyways ;)
