DCS 1.2.14 - Change Log

The main task of 1.2.14 version is integrating support of payware campaigns.

Also there are some bugfixes.

  • Su-27. Unlimited fuel option will work
  • S-25L missiles will not remains at hardpoints after jettison
  • S-25L missile. Added reworked 3D model.
  • MiG-29S chaff/flare indicator is fixed
  • Bf 109 K-4. FM tuning.
  • Bf 109 K-4. Adjusted landing gear points
  • Bf 109 K-4. Aileron damage will affect to flight control
  • Bf 109 K-4. Corrected Quick Start missions
  • Bf 109 K-4 FM. Extended landing gear brings the nose heavy effect
  • Bf 109 K-4. Water radiator params corrected
  • F-15 Quick Start missions. Corrected Tu-22 payload
  • Leopard 2. Corrected scripts of Denmark skins
  • WWII aircraft. Added ground roll sound
  • WWII aircraft. Expanded aerodynamic sounds depending on AoA
  • Mi-8MTV-2. 20th mission of campaign is corrected
  • A-10C. Refueling READY light was ON after a short delay at any mission start is fixed

1.2.14 will be available in open-beta today.

Of course my main aim is not criticize great work of ED and developers, but there were more important bugs to fix rather than A-10C Ready light. I know these fixes are essential and necessary too, though...

I wonder how this job is done? We've got bad bugs in latest (v.1.2.12) update, and personally I was expecting some fix for one or two of them!

I'm sorry, but I couldn't hide my disappointment. :\

Software development is a complex thing. What is beeing worked on depends on many several things and how important/severe a bug is is just one of them (an important one though). But there are other things like which programmer is available and if he is familiar with the specific code. So give them the time they need to do it proper . Looks like this was just an update to enable payware campaigns and I guess they just took the chance to throw some bug fixes in there which where already done and at hand.

They will *never* have enough time to fix it if they keep on releasing new beta-modules, which bring new bugs. In fact, number (and severity) of bugs in DCS remains about the same for quite long time. Whenever one bug gets fixed, at least one new is introduced...

Yea, absolutely... I know all these actually. I'm sure they have a roadmap about fixing bugs, and I'm sure they naturally want customers please. Maybe many of them will not exist in EDGE already. But I just felt curious when saw the changelog... especially after skipping 13rd update. :)

I'm looking forward for 15th update in advance! :)

Why not release EDGE 2.0 early in beta form which might or should contain many bug fixes, instead of continually patching an old version or platform?

No, if it is not ready it is not ready.

Compare it to a car. You can drive a car without a radio, but you can't drive a car without wheels.

Could still be considered currently an alpha although it's been said to be in closed beta testing. Bottom line is we can call it what we want. ED says when it's ready for us.

Understand that not all bugs are created equal, nor are they fixed equally... because some are more complex or difficult to pin down, or worst case, break something else when fixed, you might not see our favorite bug fixed as fast as something else.

Even if all the recent bugs haven't been addressed, I'll give ED credit for responding with an update as fast as they did. I know nothing about writing code and can only imagine how complex it could be with software like this. I'm as impatient as anyone, but you have to learn to just sit tight. I'm sure there are very understandable reasons why updates, beta versions, etc. take the time they do.

I wish hands and time putting in pay-ware campaign support were dedicated to getting EDGE functional instead. I don't know about others, but I don't even play the campaigns we get now and you'll almost certainly never get me to drop money on one I have to pay for... I'll collect planes and even maps like a kid with a pokemon addiction, but not campaigns...

But realizing I am not the center of the universe to anyone but me maybe others feel differently? Just seems like an odd tactic to me. I never underestimate my capacity to be the weird one though.
