CoBlue Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) I'm seeing the "fixed net" in front of me the whole time on the hud & in the manual it says: " "When engaging agile airborne targets which maneuver with more than 3-4g, you need to use the fixed net for targeting. This is because the pipper intercept angles could go beyond 7°, and the pipper can’t be drawn within the ASP reflection glass." But there's no explanation on how to use it in the manual? So how is the fixed net used in the Mig-21, in Air-to-Air with the cannon? Boxin Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) I wanted to learn about the fixed net myself. I found my answers here, in the original Mig-21 Manual. It's in English... http://www.scribd.com/doc/91674164/MiG-21-US-UM-Flight-Manual-Weight-Balance-Manual - Page 48. Thanx a lot for the link:thumbup: To be honest I'm having difficulties understanding how to use it. I'll just have to study this more. Wish LNS could include this in the manual or somebody would make a tutorial about it:) Edited December 30, 2014 by CoBlue i7 8700k@4.7, 1080ti, DDR4 32GB, 2x SSD , HD 2TB, W10, ASUS 27", TrackIr5, TMWH, X-56, GProR.
Boxin Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Happy to share. Read through the table on the next page. It makes sense after a while, haha. Between pages 48 and 49, it gave me a good base understanding to put it in to practice and start to get a feel for it. Understanding it and seeing the math is great and all, but getting a feel for it through pulling the trigger is ultimately the way to go. I have been practicing it using the medium and hard target practice missions. i9-9900k | 2080 Ti ftw ultra | 32gb DDR4 3200 | Oculus hmd | HOTAS Warthog | MFG Crosswind | MFD Cougar
DaveRindner Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Thank you for link to manual. I also clueless about fixed net sight. The manual explanation did nothing to alleviate my bafflement.
