Home Fries Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) With the Heading Autopilot system sometimes physically deflecting the pedals to maintain heading, we are left with only two options to reset the pedals to center: Tie the pedals to the trim in the Options menu (unpopular) Reset all trim (unrealistic and dangerous) I posted this in the Bugs/Problems section because this is an issue that requires a workaround. The workaround I suggest is an iCommand to reset only the pedal trim while leaving the cyclic trim in place. This would allow us to recenter our pedals without having to tie the pedals to the trim system, and without incurring major attitude issues in flight. Cibit Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I will 2nd this. xxJohnxx Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Why would you not use the trim on the pedals? In the real bird, the pedals are bound to the trim system as well. Check out my YouTube: xxJohnxx Intel i7 6800k watercooled | ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 | 32 GB RAM | Asus GTX1080 watercooled
Home Fries Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 Why would you not use the trim on the pedals? In the real bird, the pedals are bound to the trim system as well. I choose to unchain the pedals because in the real world the trimmed pedals are also offset so you still have a feel for what they are doing. With spring-loaded rudder pedals, you don't have that feel and need to rely on the control indicator to make sure you don't screw up your trim. In the meantime, I'll bite the bullet and chain trim to the rudders, but I would prefer to keep it unchained. P.S. Socket7 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I just stopped using yaw stabilization after a while. I just got tired of suddenly finding that I'm applying full rudder deflection and getting no response, because the virtual pedals have become trimmed by the autopilot such that maximum control input only centers the virtual pedals. I might turn it on temporarily if I'm landing in high winds, but mostly it just gets in the way. Practice makes perfect.

I normally never use the heading stabilization, therfore I didn't really experience the problem you were getting. But, yes the pedal deflection by the system can become a problem. P.S.
