djkling Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Hello all, and before you ask, yes I have looked on the forums and I find a lot of outdated info so I'm asking for help. To preface; I currently have a sim pit, Obutto Ozone with my TM HOTAS and rudder pedals that don't fit the Obutto (working on this)... but am at the point where I am moving into a new home so disassembled my sim. I figure this means "upgrade", right? So, I stopped playing for a bit because I was very frustrated trying to look around with my TrackIR and hit specific switches. I'm not super tech savvy so imagine there was something I was doing... anyhow... I ran across this Helios software (not easy to find, by the way, appears to be freeware now?) and was considering buying a touchscreen monitor and making a dedicated "front panel" for the instruments and such. So my questions... does Helios still exist in the sense that it works with DCS A10? Are people using it? Are there prebuilt profiles (again, not good with this stuff)? Is there a newer or better software? Any idea what kind of device I need and where I can buy one? What about this iControl stuff? Is anyone using it and does it seem to work better? Worse? Pro/Con? So much of the info is out of date so looking for honest opinions and current info. Thanks all... Ive been away from DCS a long time and highly considering coming back. Cheers! inserted because its pretty ridiculous: :pilotfly:
FSFIan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Yes, Helios still works with current DCS versions. It was always free, now it is also open-source. For the A-10C, Cap Loz has made an excellent profile that I am using on a 23" 1920x1080 touch screen. I can now operate every control without the mouse. The profile includes modified Lua files to enable the export of the CMSP, CMSC, RWR, and Clock displays. They may not work with current DCS versions, I use the method linked in my sig instead. DCS-BIOS | How to export CMSP, RWR, etc. through MonitorSetup.lua
FSFIan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Did you get the mods comm feature to work? I didn't try. DCS-BIOS | How to export CMSP, RWR, etc. through MonitorSetup.lua
