Tacview, the ACMI for DCS World – Official Thread

Hi BuzyBee. Do I need some new codecs after 1.8.7beta4? Because when I playing media in Tacview (mp4 from the OBS), audio track is fine but video is delayed.

" IMPROVED Video playback is now done via Windows Enhanced Video Renderer "

Before this update all was fine.

Hi Glow,

Can you share the media file where the audio is fine but the video is delayed?

In the meantime, I would recommend downloading the latest version of the K-Lite Basic Codec pack: https://codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_basic.htm even if you have already downloaded it, and trying again.

It is a known bug, which we have not been able to reproduce, that sometimes the first client to join the server does not get their own file. Other users have reported that as a workaround, they join their own server after launching it, then disconnect. Then all subsequent clients are recorded.

We will take another careful look at this to see if we can't find a solution. We are not sure if this is a DCS bug or a Tacview bug.

EDIT: Thank you for the log, it is very interesting because it clearly shows Viper joining the server but no ACMI file being generated. This will help our investigation.

Love this app, I'm just curious if the cause of this was found or fixed yet? Seems it just happened to me but i could be mistaken , you know dutch courage and all that , thanks for all the work you guys put in, wish I had the first clue how to code anything other than "hello world" lol.

Thanks for your support 🙂 We haven't been able to figure it out yet. If you still have the log could you please share  it?

Tacview is a too big performance hit in MP for me. I have read you can just record yourself to save performance but this would be not enough to see your fights. Would it be possible to get a more detailed filter like MP airborne players and A2A weapons only or a certain radius around your plane?

I'm not sure I have that particular log but I just had a similar issue was playing on my server for about 30 mins alone. Loaded the tacview for my client (which saved two files a txt file and a zip file) but weirdly tac view would only open the txt file and half my flight wasn't in it. Is it the dcs log u require or is there a specific tacview log file I can provide u?

Hello.

Yesterday we've conducted some BFM training and we realised Tacview is not recording simulated shots. Can that be done? Or did we do something wrong? Put Master Arm on Sim, have ACMI Pods equipped with training sidewinders... would be nice to have the simulated missile launches and gun trigger pulls show up on Tacview. 🙂

Tacview records a TXT file and a ZIP file simultaneously, then if all goes well the TXT file is removed. But if there is a crash in DCS or something else happens to corrupt the ZIP file, the TXT file remains so that at least the user can see the flight up to the point of the corruption.

The DCS Log is perfect, I will be happy to take a look at it.

hi @Vyrtuoz would it be possible to make the flight log columns sortable in a future update? e.g. click on "Event" -> sort table by event text, then time. this would be very helpful when analyzing missions where a lot was going on, as it would allow to see more easily how a specific unit performed: departure time, weapons fired, hits, survived/died, landed safely etc.

thanks

Hi,

Go to File -> Export Flight Log to export the flight log to CSV (or XML) and open it in Excel or something to have a sortable flight log.

thanks @BuzyBee , but it would be much more convenient to stay within tacview, while having a sorted flight log, as this allows also jumping to a log event to see what exactly was going on...

Hi,

I have an issue finding flight events in the exported flight logs.

In the TacView program Flight Log I see:
   xyz has fired 90x weapons.shells.GAU8_30_AP
T-90 has been hit 39 times by weapons.shells.GAU8_30_AP (xyz)
T-90 has been hit 48 times by weapons.shells.GAU8_30_AP (xyz)

Now I export the flight log as XML and look for these three events. For the first line I find

        <Event>

Now, my problem is: The fired bullets have the id 1253. However, when hitting the targets, they have the ids 1252 and 1255. How could I know that 1252 and 1255 belong to 1253?

Hi, this is a great question! Actually each bullet has its own ID (assigned by DCS World) but they are not all listed. In your example, you can tell that they are all from the same group by the Parent Object ID and the Time:

Hi all,

For any of you who use PHPTacview by Ezor, I invite you to try this version that I have updated to improve readability and get rid of some error messages.

I also added stats for kills of trucks, mention of number of occurrences of multiple projectiles, and aircraft identification photos.

Get it from our website - scroll right to the bottom of this page: https://tacview.net/download/addons/

Don't hesitate to let me know about any issues!

Happy flying,

BuzyBee

I have read through the Tacview support pages, uninstalled and re-installed Tacview, however the software will not record DCS flights.  I have the Tacview Advanced 64-bit with a license.

My DCS log file is attached.  It shows error code 29 associated with Tacview, but not sure what this means.
