We get it; you worked on Mig-21 for years, pilots are stupid, you're great, they aren't. No need to repeat yourself over and over.

 

Cobra said it will be addressed as necessary with the guidance their internal source who has used the ASP in flight for years. What more do you want?

Gezahu, although I totally agree with your point that this ASP-radar issue must be adressed ASAP, the personal insults you're casting around do you no good.

One important point to emphasize: A PILOT IS NOT A PRIMARY SOURCE ON THE WORKINGS OF AN AIRCRAFT SYSTEM it is the engineer (and that would be me). Pilots operate the systems (and usually break it :)) they know "what" it does but they wont know "how" it does. Well in this case I sincerely doubt that they know even what it supposed to do. Other reason might be that he is flying some downgraded system as russians often exported "funny" configs to not fully reliable allies like arab or african states or even europeans. I myself worked on planes which were half bred between the Bis and UM variants mixed you would never find in any book.

 

What is 100% percent sure is that a Mig-21 Bis with a glorious red star on its tale gets fully accurate firing solution from its radar regardless what they say.

 

I have only a slight imagination for which air force you work and can only speak for german air force standards but our pilots are supposed to study things like aerospace technology/aerospace engineering during their carreer. Won't say they have no idea how their plane works.

Yeah. Additionally to that, you as a pilot would probably would know if your gunsight could get the radar range or just operate at a fixed distance. It is quit crucial for employing your gun...

 

But as it has been said, Leatherneck is looking into it. If they deem that the ASP should use radar range they will change it, if not, they won't. Being rude won't help in any chase. The only thing it does is driving the devs away from the forum and worsening communications between them and the community.

 

So if we all keep easy and don't get to emotional we will end up with a better situation for everyone! :thumbup:
