I tried setting the MiG-21 to AI controlled and it successfully fires at front aspect targets with IR missiles. Leatherneck mistaken constantly R-60M with R-60, those missiles looks very similar but they are totally different. Most people even don't now how recognize both variants.

But, weapon perform still quite different. R-60M on ED MiG-29 or Su-25 can still lock from front aspect at least close in and seem to pick up heat sources much quicker. Not so much on MiG-21.
