Dcs 2.0 "should" be doable with sli 980. If not well this tech and hardware have allot of optimizing to be done. Higher the refresh the better, but with that we need the software and hardware to provide it.

Sort of. That resolution is similar to what you'd find on a typical CRT from the late 1990's. DCS is made for higher resolutions, so going that low would likely require zooming in to read gauges and the HUD. DCS 2 might allow for 90+ fps at that resolution though.

Remember, there are two screens making them approximately equivalent to 1.25x a standard 1080HD display (in terms of pixels).

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

If both eyes saw both screens then you'd be right of course, but they don't. Each eye can only see one and so the screens are not additive.

I was referring to this part of your post.

But and it is a big but

SteamVR is still miles ahead of the Oculus Rift DK2, but the subpixels are noticeable, as are the gaps between pixels. Some combination of resolution and optics makes the Crescent Bay screen a slightly better experience

and that will be essential for flight sims

Yeah, I saw that. Upgrading the screen shouldn't be overly difficult however if they can get the rest together, which it seems they are doing. Sidenote, I have the HTC one M8 phone, it is excellent! But the screen doesn't compare to the screens on the Samsung Galaxies I had previously, I have no idea what they are using in this but they may want to look elsewhere.

Keyboard issue could well be solved. Valve Lighthouse will track an arbitrary number of points with sub mm accuracy. It won't take long for a keyboard and other peripherals with the trackers to appear which will allow you bring your keyboard, mouse, switches whatever in to vr with you.

All we need now is improved resolution. Something that will be improved over time.

Sort of non-issue with DCS level modelled aircraft as all the commands are 'in world' with the clickable pit. I can find my mouse with eyes closed as I know where it is on my desk. Between your HOTAS and mouse you should be able to fly.

Well either do vr or build a pit like that in the house. I can tell you vr is better but that's my opinion. It's perfect for Dcs world and its in game virtual pits

VR and pit building are 2 different things. A pit builder is creating an actual reality vs a virtual reality.
