The event version of the mission will be available 1 week prior to the event taking place, at this stage it is still undecided if the OPFOR side will have air to ground objectives or solely focused on defending against the Challenger side air to air and air to ground assets.

This will be confirmed within the next week!

- You may exit flight after landing and coming to a full stop at a friendly base to refresh game or choose a new available slot. This will not be counted as a loss. Ask admin for permission to rejoin before exiting.

- Pilots may land and rearm only at friendly available bases. Landing anywhere else will be considered a loss.

- Assigned player slots can be changed between pilots of the same team, if agreed between both pilots or if an empty slot is available.

- You cannot quit in flight intentionally during the event for any reason and rejoin. Players disconnected due to a game crash or internet disconnection may only rejoin if granted permission by an admin (as admin for permission to rejoin). You will not be allowed to reconnect at any time if you were engaged with any enemy.

- All pilots must land BEFORE the end of the event. A notification will be given when there are 10 minutes left in the event. Any pilot still in the air at the end of the event will be counted as a loss and any points obtained by that pilot during that last flight will be revoked.

Operation Dragon Sheild - OPFOR 15-1

Event briefing:

Time is almost upon for the first event of 2015. The mission is now available for all clients to review. An editted version of our public Operation Dragon Shield mission, this event is purely a modern day fixed wing event, sadly on this occasion there are no slots available for rotary assets.

Mission available here - http://www.mediafire.com/download/zmov1gjvf969mik/2_Op_Dragon_Shield_OPFOR.miz

The principle of the event is very simple the OPFOR side stand in the way of the Challengers objective. It is the Challengers role to destroy as many OPFOR units air and ground as possible within the mission time of 3 hours.

Points will be awarded for all kills and the objective is to score as many points for your side as possible before time runs out!

This promotes both co-ordinated attacks and lone wolf wanderings each with their own chances of success.

Mission Briefing:

OPFOR

With the primary task of air defence over the Krasnodar and Maykop regions OPFOR will seek to maintain control over the battle space and hault the incoming offensive from Sochi. Based from Krymsk with Krasodar Center in friendly hands the Blue side will be able to rearm and refuel at Krasnodar from the start of the mission. Waypoint 1 is set as Bullseye some 30 miles South East of Krasnodar.

RED

The mission for the Challenger side is to inflict as much damage to as many OPFOR units as possible, these include aircraft, ground units and airfield defences. Based out of Sochi and Gudauta with the initial tasking of capturing Maykop airbase, the focus will then shift to attacking Krasnodar Center, Krymsk or the OPFOR ground units surrounding Maykop. Having a strong CAP pressence will be the key to victory and elimination of the enemy, flights should be co-ordinated with air threats in mind despite the enemy being outnumbered.

Bullseye is set 16nm West of Maykop. Once the capture of Maykop is complete Russian SA-11 units will spawn to provide friendly SAM cover in the area.

Rules:

  1. Battle duration: 3 hours – Once time is up, all pilots must RTB and land safely. Failure to do so will result in a loss.
  2. 1 life per pilot. If you crash or get shot down, you will have to exit the server
  3. Stick to the same aircraft, switching aircrafts during the battle is not allowed
  4. Attacking aircrafts on the ground is allowed with cannon or air-to-ground weapons only
  5. If you disconnect, seek an admin on Teamspeak, explain what happened and ask for permission to rejoin
  6. A DCS track will be saved automatically and may be requested for refereeing, if any suspicions or disputes
  7. A fresh reboot is strongly recommended for stability and performance
  8. Ping limit is 320
  9. You MUST be on the 104th Teamspeak to take part in this event.

Great to see this classic event making a comeback! :)

Indeed, its been too long!

For this round we plan to do OPFOR with a twist, hence why it is NOT equal teams taking on each other.

This event is aimed at giving the community something different from the Joint Warrior format, a sort of pre Nevada Red Flag event.

Public members and other squadrons will have the chance to go up against some of the best fighter pilots in the sim with numbers on their side and very strong chance of taking the win!

Being outnumbered 15 vs 25 should give both OPFOR squadrons a extreamly challenging evening in the office, victory for the OPFOR side is unlikely however we expect to all go out with a bang and give the Challenger side the best fight we possibly can.

Going forward we wil probably change OPFOR back to the equal team numbers something like 25vs25 and continue the 'aggresor' format in the Nevada map with Red Flag events.

In the meantime this is a great opportunity for public clients to have a real go at shooting down some of the best of the best, who have dominated A2A since FC2 without having to worry about losing one or two pilots in the process.

I fully expect the challenger side to take the victory however we won't be making it easy for them :)

300 is max, sorry to anyone above this but it causes more hassle than its worth.

We may need to start trying to find an event partner in the far East who can host events for all our friends outside the 300 ping limit... no promises though.

Due to demand we have had to restrict the number of Squadron Member pilots to accomodate the Lone Wolf sign ups. All Squadrons have a maximum of FOUR slots each, you may choose any pilots you wish and you may also swap pilots during the event to give more people a flight.

Please confirm which pilots you wish to bring, you may also bring reserve pilots in the event some people do not show up and they will then be allowed to fly.

Additional Lone Wolfs are also welcome to show up in the event that people cannot make it!

Sorry to those who did not make it into the Sign Up, clients who signed up on the 104th forums first got priority, please do try to attend on the evening of the event and we'll see about getting you involved as reserve pilots or with the ability to replace another client after he has landed and disconnected.

Client limit = 41 Clients

The Squadrons taking part on the RED Side may rotate pilots during the 3 hour mission.

So if a Squadron member wants to start the event, fly for an hour or so then land, disconnected, another squadron member may take his place.

Dead pilots obviously cannot be replaced.

The pilot being replaced must land safely at their HOME airbase and disconnect before his replacement connects.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi Maverick,

Kudos for organizing those community event !

Will the track be available after the event ? I did enjoyed the last tournament track, and learned a lot with the Tacview files. (Thanks for those !) Since lots of us can't play and that spectating is not possible (is it ?), that would be great for those who can't attend but enjoy to watch skilled battles.

Yes the track will be made available to all after the event :)

We'll be pumping out more of these events very soon, its just taken a while to get 2015 rolling.

Expect another OPFOR to follow quickly after this one and Operation Joint Warrior will be making its 2015 debut in the very near future too!
