KUDOS to Ed - Great Update 1.2.16 - finally wingtips don't break ...

Recommended Posts

I got still wing broken in turns. Not wing tips but whole wing or half wing broken.

Today i got 3 or 4 wing broken in turns.

BTW for me 109 is flying like it has serious COG problems ( aft COG). It behave little like "cradle". Something like IRL P-51 with aft tank full.

the change that also the whole or half wing, and not only the wingtips are breaking already happened with the previous patch.

I spent some time dogfighting the AI last night, the only time I broke a wing was my own mistake, getting myself in a dive, over-speeding the plane and breaking a wing trying to recover to fast. The rest of the time I had no issues, if you pay attention to your plane, you know when you are over doing it.

Sith,

that's my conviction too the way it is now modeled. After all we can also break the P51d wings if we pull too hard.

But, just as you, I was able to stay with my wings well tied to the fuselage during the most part of the great time spent yesterday at the ACG server :-)

Glad to hear you had similar results in MP

It is just another problem. That the 109 doesn't have elevator trim tabs changed to level flight. That makes its nose go up. That enables quicker pullouts and easier wing breaking... Thats my view on it.

I only saw wing breaks when over-speeding... didnt have an issue flying the plane within its limits...

What about my video of 109 breaking wing? The one in Dogfighting skills P-51 thread?

Link?

I am only giving my impression and what I experienced. In most cases the 109 is ver good at telling you when you are abusing her. Another thing of note, when I did break a wing, I had over-stressed the wings at least twice before the failure during my fight.

This situation. You even commented on it, saying that it was the wing that was not shot that flew away.

Sooo... technically you saw a wing fall off the plane before it was over speeding.:) On a video... but still :)

At which speed?

Apparently I don´t have any problems breaking the wings when I pull out of a fast dive (over 600km/h). No matter how hard I pull or if I use additional trim.

From what I´ve experienced the critical region for ripping your wing(s) off lies in about ~400 - 550km/h

I don´t have a lot of troubles with ripping my wings off overall - but then I just might have adjusted to the flight model.

If I do it on purpose though I can´t make out much of a difference to how it was a few versions before.

Well its easy to rip the wings off if you are trying to. I'll have to look at my tracks again, I dont remember the speed I was at when I had my failure, I know it was quite fast through, and definitely my fault...

I think still is too easy to broke wing in 109. Comone it is a fighter plane designated to do fast Boom and Zoom attack with high speed dive and pull up.

Such fighters could sustain 6-7 G without problems. Ultimated load factor should be about 1.3-1.5 more so no wing broken before 9-10 G.

All my wing brokens were in sustained turn at medium speed about 500-600 kph without any blackout symptoms. So i think it was between 6-7 G no more. Even my old Zlin 526 could sustain 6 G without any problems.

There should be no "I think" you can view your tracks and see what the G load is, keeping in mind that the airframe sustains damage everytime it is pushed to its limits. so just because you went to 6.5 Gs and broke the wings doesnt mean this isnt accurate if you didnt do it a number of times before... these are 1940's aircraft, not modern fighters... they dont take as much abuse...

As I already stated, I flew dogfights yesterday, and only broke the wings once and because of putting myself in a bad position and trying to save myself to aggressively... You need to examine your own flying habits, ou may find some of this falls back on that... the 109 will let you know when she isnt happy... ignore that at your own peril.

As for the blackout symptoms... that is proving to me more problematic to get changed...
