Mysticpuma Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 It would be great to have a 2015 update stickied to include news that is mentioned in multiple threads (like the few aircraft updates) but also to include some news on what is actually happening? Seems a shame that with the interest there is in this and for those involved in the Kickstarter...even a quarterly update of new WiP for this project, not just the aircraft, would be really appreciated. Cheers, MP
Simon1279 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I totally agree with you Mysticpuma, me and the community i'm in, are waiting for a long time for news about DCS WW2 Europe 1944, it looks like that this is just a tiny and a backdoor project, looking around the internet...... we even don't know if this is still in development, we can just finding infos on NTTR map and DCS World 2.0, but nothing about DCS WW2 Europe 1944, the last year i heard something speaking about Normandy map to be released in May 2015 and then SITREPS out, at least something reguarding AI ground units for the period 1944 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I7 8700K @ 4.9 ghz, SSD 850 evo, MSI Z370 Gaming Pro, GTX 1080Ti, F/A-18C in the garage, F-16C in the backyard, F-14B in the garden
tintifaxl Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I guess not much happening on this front, as long as DCS World 2.0 isn't out. Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.
VincentLaw Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) The latest WWII related news was in the February newsletter. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=139694 I agree that a thread in this section to put all of the WWII news like that in one place would be a good idea since some people keep missing the news when it is released in other places. I guess not much happening on this front, as long as DCS World 2.0 isn't out.The delays in DCS World 2.0 do not seem to have hampered development of WWII aircraft. Just guessing based on previous estimated release dates, Normandy is probably in the queue to be completed after the Straight of Hormuz map. Edited April 7, 2015 by VincentLaw [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

cichlidfan Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 DCS WWII is no longer a 'thing' but rather a description applied to a group of projects spread out over several years. For that reason, a WWII specific update section doesn't really make sense. airdoc Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 rule of thumb : - add 6 months to official release date for any ww2 single engine prop - add 9-12 months for any jet - add >12 months for bigger projects :) The three best things in life are a good landing, a good orgasm, and a good bowel movement. The night carrier landing is one of the few opportunities in life to experience all three at the same time.
Roadrunner Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 rule of thumb : - add 6 months to official release date for any ww2 single engine prop - add 9-12 months for any jet - add >12 months for bigger projects :) so what, something like 15-18 month for ME-262 prototype (beta) then like below? :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "There's nothing to be gained by second guessing yourself. ED Team NineLine Posted April 9, 2015 ED Team Posted April 9, 2015 rule of thumb : - add 6 months to official release date for any ww2 single engine prop - add 9-12 months for any jet - add >12 months for bigger projects :) Nonsense... there has been no official release date on any of the up coming aircraft... when an aircraft is given a release date it is usually released within a few days of that date. Ok Sith, I 'm not intending to create a hot argument here, but if you replace the "official release date" with an "initially estimated date as stated by the developers" you can see the pattern. I think that this is one of the reasons ED changed their announcement policy. I 'm not saying this as someone who condemns ED and 3rd parties for these delays, as many things can pop up during development. But i think that it's better sticking to reality-based expectations. When ED open the pre-order, then their deadlines are concretely met. But anything before it has a fuzzy factor. @Roadrunner : nothing has been announced for the Me-262 recently, so given that it should come after the Jug and the Spit, I wouldn't count on seeing it before the end of 2014 (at best). Don bash me Sith it's just my personal estimate :) Edited April 9, 2015 by airdoc The three best things in life are a good landing, a good orgasm, and a good bowel movement. VincentLaw Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 - add 9-12 months for any jetI believe avionics have more to do with how long a release takes than the type of engine the plane has. The Me-262 shouldn't take any longer to develop than any piston engine planes of the era. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
