i'm looking at mine right now and its reading 15-20% CPU.

with the software maximised...

 

and a few CPU% without.

 

Interesting the software display has a large impact.

Unlike most (or is it all?) of the other optical headtracking solutions, TrackIR does the point tracking in hardware and just sends that data to the PC to be turned into position and orientation, so the CPU usage on your end is minimal.
