LockON is CPU bottlenecked if you already have a decent GPU, a new one will not benefit you that much. (As for other GPU limited games, it would really benefit you, just not LockOn)

Remember, all the above is based on you having a decent GPU already, X600 isn't extremely powerful, so a new card should give somewhat of an improvement, at least the capaility to run more effects on and AA or AF...

That is.. If your CPU is fast enough to feed the new GPU, it's all a vicious circle ;)

I also believe that it is about CPU. Too bad FC can not fully use the dual core processors!

2 GiG's makes BIG difference. Only those who never tried this do not believe so.

Define “BIG”. And, yes I need to see it to believe. I have 1 GB of RAM and disable virtual memory, no problems. Meaning that FC does not really even use all of 1 gig available to it. So, how’s more RAM going to help?

When I went from 1 gig to 2 gigs, it (LO) loaded faster and the game ran smoothier.

Yes and this means you wont get low FPS for the sole reason your constatantly loading up textures through the missions anymore.

With 2 GIG's youll have all the FPS your system can muster and its no longer the constant loads that limits it. Maximum FPS wont change but minimum will, improving the average.

If your short of cash and if you already have a decent PC the memory upgrade is the way to go. If you think your GFX sux look at mine. ;)

And it runs smooth.

This was posted months ago but it did wonders when coupled with the extra memory:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's possible to turn swap file off, but it can cause problems - some applications may not work properly. IMHO it's better to tweak a regedit.exe this way:

Find the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\SessionManager\Memory Management

1. Find the dword DisablePagingExecutive, double click it and set the value to 1 decimal - this allows Windows to keep data in memory instead of paging to harddrive.

2. Find the dword LargeSystemCache, double click it and set the value to 1 decimal - this allows Windows kernel to run in memory - improves system performance a lot.

Reboot your PC for the changes to take effect.

I use these settings with 1,5 Gig of RAM and it improved system performance significantly - especially in Lomac (actually Lomac is the only application that forced me to upgrade RAM to 1,5 Gig :rolleyes

Finally I found one more tweak tip, but haven't tried it yet so don't know if it works - here it is:

"Create a new dword and name it IOPageLockLimit - double click it and set the value in hex to 4000 if you have 128MB of RAM or set it to 10000 if you have 256MB or set it to 40000 if you have more than 512MB of RAM - this tweak will speed up your disckcache."

------------------------------------------------------------------------

A sign that your system needs memory is when you alt tab or open a directory full of files and it takes several seconds to refresh. With the memory and this tweak its instant. I can alt tab LOMAC as if it was notepad, clean as a wistle.

Well i have 2 GB of RAM and Dualcore AMD, Radeon x1900xtx and this game is still on low fps flying a mudmover...

Either because your a bit greedy on the detail you pushing into it or you dont have the machine oiled good enough.

Dont push 16X AA and 16X Aniso and then put the game in 1600x1200 with heat blur on. It will kill your FPS no matter what. You should avoid abuses such as these because they arent giving you much better image quality anyway.
