Flanker Ladder Reunion

Panthir

Recommended Posts

hello everybody,

I'm flying online since 1996, flanker 1.5 early days, being a very active member of the famous Flanker Ladder. I remember that I have travelled to the Nederlands, Apeldorne, where a lan party was held in a youth hotel, where Flanker 2.0 beta presented for first time.

So, I am wondering whether there are still active Flyers since those days.

It would be nice to organize a kind of reunion, to remember those days, when a ping of 500ms, was a good sign to play.

Hi Panthir!

I was there (Apeldoorn). Adamski's ladder was epic! You'll find a few of us 'Flanker-originals' still popping in and out of the forums... sometimes under new callsigns. I believe Adamski moved to New Zealand and is mostly into civvie-sims these days. Jeroen (the event organiser) also frequents the forum every now and then...

Chaos!!!!

Nice to hear you are still active. I have recently searched for Adamski. You are right that he moved in NZ. He was running a relevant web page there as well.

I've been flying since flanker 1 too..

If there's a sim in my heart it's that; also, can't forget the anticipation for flanker 2.0..

My mp experience though, started with DCS world, so no ladders..

Been flying flanker since day one including Beta testing and my name in the flanker manual with the other testers.

Got my Flanker T-Shirt as a gift.

Competed in the online Ladder and still flying today.

Those were the good old times of custom skins. :)

Cheers,

Catseye

Ah yes. The Big Bear meet in Apeldoorn. I still was in university at that time. Travelled there using public transportation because of me not having a driver's license. One of the other participants thought that me having no PC was not a good idea. Guy drove me back home to pick up my PC and brought me home after the event. That was a pretty awesome thing to do. Thanks for feeling me an old guy now.

Mate, excellent days, brilliant meeting.do you remember that almost all participants where using CB radios?

We travelled from Crete to Amsterndam and reached Apeldoorne by train.

The use of CB radios was one of the first things I thought about when I read this thread. Some participants brought several of them so that people who didn't own one could use one too. I used the one I borrowed mostly to call search and rescue :)

  • 1 year later...

Hello....

Don't really have time for PC sims anymore, but found this thread whilst reminiscing....

If you read this, special greetings to Willem, Jeroen, PapaDoc, Taurion and Shepski...

I know Mark (Shepski) also went on to a career in aviation - hope it's still going well. I did too - 737/747 and now Airbus.

Keep the blue side up....

FP
