Joni
Hi guys, I currently have an FX 6100, 8GB@1600mhz, Sapphire HD 6870. I want to upgrade to play DCS better given that fps are too low with this amd cpu. Is an i5 4440 a good step from the fx 6100? Joni
ok, the thing is that i wont get a new gpu in the near future... so my question was if i will see a difference in fps getting the i5 4590 Intel Core i5-8600k + Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO | Gigabyte GTX 1070 Aorus 8G | 32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengance LPX Black 3200MHz | Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 3 | WD Black SN750 NVMe 500GB | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB | WD Green 240GB | WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA 3 | WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 3 | EVGA 650 GQ 80+ Gold | Samsung CF391 Curved 32" | Corsair 400C | Steelseries Arctis 5 --- Razer Kraken X Lite | Logitech G305 | Redragon Dyaus 2 K509 | Xbox 360 | Saitek X-52 Pro | Thrustmaster TWCS | TrackIR
OnlyforDCS
The answer is yes, yes you will! Intel processors significantly outpefrom their AMD counterparts in DCS, and since DCS is so CPU bound you will see a large FPS improvement. Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals. Dudikoff
ok, the thing is that i wont get a new gpu in the near future... so my question was if i will see a difference in fps getting the i5 4590 If you do, please report back on your experience. Your GPU is rather old so IMHO you won't see a big improvement in DCS in general if you just upgrade the CPU. In your place, I'd rather get a newer GPU (even a used one still under warranty) and maybe overclock the CPU. i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg. Joni
I finally got the i5 4590 with a GA-H97 mobo and I gained 20 fps when it usually dropped to 15 frames when a lot of AI was in mi sight, I now see 35 fps on those cases. Nice improvement. One other question: I always used motherboards with integrated graphics but never saw the device manager showing two gpu (the 6870 and the integrated intel hd). Is that normal? How do I know which of them is DCS or other game using? When I uninstall the drivers and remove the item from the device manager it reinstalls itself again after reboot. I always had just my gpu showing in device manager. Demon_
To see your integrated graphics in the device manager, maybe you need to install the appropriate software driver (mobo or intel). How do I know which of them is DCS or other game using? Where you connect your monitor. The integrated graphics is too weak to play a big game. I just uninstall this Intel driver, thank for reminding to me. Edited May 24, 2015 by Demon_ Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
