Questions for next DCS Stream

Will it be possible to adjust controls during a multiplayer session?

Pretty sure this one was answered in a stream. The answer was no, because there would need to be a pause-state for all clients, which would lead to interesting (to say the least) situations.

 

Having said that, it would be good if individuals could 'do it anyway', and if they're in a bad spot while the simulation keeps running in the background, well...

Any plans to allow the VR support to use NVIDIA's VR SLI?

 

And in particular, its broadcast mode (described on page 8 here) that allows a single stream of draw calls to be sent to both GPUs? This feature seems ideally suited to DCS with its large number of objects.

This is more of a wishlist item, these Q&A's are meant for things we know, features coming to DCS, features for the L-39. They are not to promote your favorite issue or a feature you would really like to have. Wags will not use these Q&A's to announce new features, modules, etc (atleast most likely wont).

 

So again, keep the questions on what we know, but would like more info on, not one what we would like to see.

 

Pretty sure i already posted this but for whatever reason it got deleted, so please allow me to repost;

 

"Is there a specific reason why different keys are used for the same command across different aircraft? And if not, wouldn't it be a good idea to standardize certain key assignments?"

Examples are different keys for multiplayer chat, open and closing canopy, landing gear and flaps.

Dear Wags,

 

Will there still be a difference in the way exhaust smoke is rendered between AMD and Nvidia cards with 1.5? In your recent videos it seems the exhaust trail is rendered much better than is currently the case for Nvidia users in DCS 1.2.

Q: Will the new over wing vapor effects be available in DCS 1.5?

 

Chances are Wags wont answer questions about when anything will be ready, or what version it might make it in to. Its possible it wont be ready for the first release of 1.5, but might make it into a following release, or it might wait till 2.0... nothing is for sure right now, depends on how things progress.

Hey my question is with 2.0 will we see waves and the like affected by weather at sea (i.e bigger rolling seas with bad weather) on maps such as SOH? I understand that it might not happen with release but is it planned. Sorry if this has been asked but I only get about an hour to the computer a night during the week.

Please ask about know items and features, nothing has been said about Dynamic Campaigns, so they wont answer questions about unannounced items and features, I have asked this repeatedly...

Q: Will there be new features in the ME (trigger section) as: Respawnable groups ? A way of detecting hits(or misses).

Q: Will the SAMs units try to work together and will they try to go "defensive" when fired upon with a ARM ?

Will there be a visual wet runway effect and will a wet runway affect the ground handling?

 

Any chance for rain droplets on the canopies in DCS 2?

 

Wet runways effect the braking even in the current DCS for a long time now

- What can we expect from weather modeling and effects, different from what we have today ?

 

I've read somewhere that terrain effects on winds will be modeled, but, what about turbulence and wind variability ? Presently the turbulence is almost not felt, even at the highest scales..

 

- Will the navaids, and the algorithm which supposedly even implements "line of sight" for VORs be fixed in 1.5 / 2.0. Will mountains hide the signal from a distant VOR station, instead of what happens presently with some modules, where the mask effect is reversed?

Moddable ATC

 

With the upcoming updates to the ATC system, will it be possible for the community to create add-on sound-mod packs for localisation and variety purposes? By extension, I imagine a script would need to be released?

 

Loving the Q&As, really appreciate the time and effort that goes into them.

Matt,

What are your thoughts of using much higher quality audio for the external aircraft engine sounds. For fly by, takeoffs or just stationary.

As in any game including dcs, the engine sounds are muffled. As we all know, these engines screech when heard in person.

Perhaps this is achievable using a much higher bit and kHz quality if possible.

 

Seems like a lot of work but I want my aircraft in game to sound like the real thing.
