Love the new obj system! So awesome and respawn is great! Few shots flying a cooperative mission against the Special Forces Incursion with Cosmicdoubloon, SA342L model is the perfect scout and light attack asset to a heavily armed UH1 Gunship!

1 more mission story, a pair of Gazelles are outgunned by anti aircraft fire at spec ops outpost, huey gunship in from the south for support, scramble scramble scramble. Approacing target area green enemy tracers can be seen beyond the ridge top firing at friendly choppers. Waiting patiently for the right moment, enemy air defense focused on other chopper, weapons hot hammer down all the way in. Anti Air spotted switch to rockets, hammer down. Door gunners to free fire. Love the smell of miniguns in the morning, smells like victory!:gun_smilie:

I am glad you guys like the update.

Considering the amount of changes, the release went smoother that I thought :lol:

Still working on some fix and the new costal map, can wait to do a public test session with it :pilotfly:

 

Even with my trackID config ****ed up, I had fun yesterday coming back to the game after a long break. I can tell you my story too:

A10C goes to war, 2 brave enemy fighters go for him, their blood injected eyes only see the A10C, not my Su27 coming for them.

Killed a F15C ; the other fighter engaged me, we lose each other in the mountains.

The A10C did not survived but the pilot was rescued.

Flying out of Lochini last night, I headed to the Medical center out west of town with repair parts and personnel. Before the updates, I would not see any smoke or other indication of a destination. I usually land in a clearing on the south side of the town. This time when I arrived, there was green smoke. When I landed and chose to "deliver cargo", I got a message saying "you are not too close to the drop zone". I thought maybe it was just a typo and scooted the helo over closer to the smoke. Tried again, got even closer, and got the same result. Got even closer; same result. According to the mission list, I was at 0km from the mission focus. "Drop cargo" actually did something.

 

I'll try and duplicate it today and get a report logged for you.

So, from your description, it seems like you got confused somewhere.

The Medical center doesn't need repair parts or personnel.

This location is a rescue drop off and delivery pick-up, not delivery drop off.

The green smoke is here to mark the hospital accepting downed pilot for rescue.

 

Delivery objective are shown using '-tr'

Rescue objective are shown using '-re'

Some objectives are in both category like safe house accepts downed pilots and some delivery so make sure to read the popup carefully.

 

 

'Drop Cargo' will always work as it's basically jettisoning your cargo.

Maybe I should actually use this name and call it 'Jettison Cargo'

No problemo.

Field hospital and medical center are indeed 2 different objectives.

 

I am working on some more fixes and also improving my debug log to include some more information to track this kind of bugs even of you don't use the 'report'

In Masterscript: Skynet v3.2.2

Chat Commands

 

  • Chat command log will now include the name of the player executing the command
  • Chat command error message will now be added to my system logs ('You are too far', 'You are not parked'....)
  • 'Drop/Unload Cargo' are now called 'Jettison Cargo' to make sure people know it's not a casual command
  • 'Jettison Cargo' will still try a 'Deliver Cargo' before dropping everything
  • Fix a script exception in 'Deliver Cargo' command

Objectives

 

  • Added more checks and warnings to validate objectives declared in the map
  • Rescue attractors (for sea rescue) now ignores active units in their zone (Only impact Open Conflict Tuapse)

Gazelle

 

  • Model L now has 1 more passenger slots than the Gazelle M
  • This will allow this lighter model to do captive extraction

 

Multiple Missions Prep Work

 

  • Skynet now parses the server mission list, removes the unofficial ones and build its own list
  • Add an admin command to manual schedule a mission change for next reset
  • This will allow me to test every Skynet systems when reseting the server to a different map

Yea I am now working on another mission.

I don't post my progress because it's not yet released but I still could post some release notes if you want to be appraised of the progress.

 

Release notes can be a bit tricky to understand when you never played the map but I could make them more like progress notes.

So I load up two medical personnel and a crate of repair parts and depart Lochini for a medical base out west of town. Almost as soon as I entered the CZ, I get the "enemy fighter in vicinity" warning. I take the Huey down to treetop level (literally) and scoot along, hoping to be low and slow enough.

 

My head is on a swivel now and just as I'm about to turn my head forward I hear a "WHOOSH!" and turn to see a smoke trail just under the helo. I don't even know if it came from astern or forward. Seconds later, "oh, he's in front of me"; I know 'cause I can see the missile this time. I waited a second, then jinked to the left, leaving the missile to blow by the canopy by about a meter or so. Right on its tail was the enemy fighter, who blasted on past me.

 

This is a wide open plain with zero cover. No ravines, valleys, or gulleys. The best I could hope for was to turn and head back to the village I had just overflown, set down among some buildings, and wait for him to leave or get chased off. Sadly, I realized I was much too far from the town to make it in any decent time, so I decided to perform an "Air Cav" landing and hope the enemy pilot can't spot me in the ground clutter.

 

Came in too fast, flipped the Huey, and burned. Damn. I hate it when that happens.

 

Good job mirknir.....I prefer a challenge.

 

So that was you! I was staring in awe as I flew past you in my -33. If you hadn't crashed I would've let you go, I think that if a helo dodges two missiles fired at more-or-less point blank, he deserves to live.

  • Skynet now checks the number of helicopter per FARP and will issue an error if it's more than 4

Script Exceptions

  • Fix 2 more exceptions in Database:4212 and MissionCommands:777

More Map Validation Checks

 

  • Skynet now verifies that HOT playable slots have HOT in their name
  • Skynet now verifies that playable slots with HOT in their name are indeed HOT
  • Skynet now verifies that Su27 aircrafts have 100% fuel (in editor, the default value is 56%)

Fleet

 

  • Fleet are now properly monitored by Skynet and will stop issuing 'unknown object' warnings

Report Command

 

  • Add Skynet version and current map name is the report log to make them easier to find

 

Server Full Restart

 

  • Every 5 resets, the server will now automatically shutdown and restart (so about every 20h)

 

Export Data

 

  • Skynet can now outputs the export data in the log (the data used by addons like Tacview)
  • This will be used to debug some bugs

 

In Map: Open Conflict Khashuri - v6.3.2

 

Duel Slots

 

  • Added A10C (HOT), A10A, Su25 and Su25T slots for duels (Requested by IAS2424)
  • M2000C duel slots are now HOT to help with respawn time

 

 

In NEW Map: Open Conflict Tuapse - v2.9.0 BETA

 

This is the first public release of the mission so don't hesitate to post feedback here or use the '-report' command.

It's supposed the be playable but I might have missed some things since building a map from scratch is a lot of work.

 

The mission contains the same kind of objectives and features as Open Conflict Khashuri so you guys shouldn't be lost.

Located in a coastal settings, the rescue system has been updated to work at sea using rescue ships.

 

All objectives are here and but some are more or less finished.

My Review of the New Map

 

Here is my feedback::megalol::megalol::megalol: OMG... this IS AmAZInG :megalol::megalol::megalol:

 

Tons of things to do for us all!!! If you fly :pilotfly:Hueys, this server is super. Ground targets that need blasting.

Pilots that need rescuing. What about sea rescues? Yes, Mirknir's Open Conflict Tuapse has that. :D oh, myyyyyy. :D

 

And now I present a short story called, "SpecialK Sits On Things":

THE WEATHER IN THIS MAP IS AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

LIKE REALLLLLY AWESOME

 

Early morning fog and rain over the ocean got me like ...(altitude, altitude, altitude, airspeesaltitudealtitude ALTITUDE!):pilotfly::megalol:

 

So far the map is GREAT! loving the objectives and smokes are working perfectly for rescues and omg its awesome more to test tomorrow.

 

I had a thought also today, with the growing populairity of your server,what if there could be some kind of Red and Blue score card, to encourage PVP and COOP play, objs shown from each team and at the end of that match the team that has the most objectives accomplished "wins" and for each time an objective is accomplished a popup happens for all players to see? anyway just a spitball thought. DID I MENTION HOW AWESOME THE NEW MAP IS?! :D:thumbup:

Hahahaha... Dustoff... I didn't see your play-by-play until I was watching the video. That's hilarious. Good thing you didn't watch the first time I did it or you would have probably thrown up. But 5/10? I did it on the first pass, didn't even have to go around. Oh well, I shall earn a place on the Dustoffs team, oh yes, it will be mine.

Time out problem , been trying for more than seven wks trying to enter Open conflict but to no avail. I think it would a lot easier pushing an elephant through a keyhole than trying to enter Open conflict. Don't get me wrong I always picked the site for its innovation. Lately though it's been a battle just to pass the server list.

Hmmm, you might want to get ping plotter and run a trace to the IP of the OC server, this sounds like a problem with either your connection or something along the route you take to connect to the server.

Absolutely loving the new mission Mirknir! The weather is awesome, the objectives are awesome, and ships are just (you guessed it!) awesome! :thumbup:

 

Just a couple of things I noticed which I thought I would feedback on (It's long, grab a drink and get comfy! :book: )

 

The MiG-29 slots are currently at Anapa which is the farthest airport from the conflict zone for BLUFOR. MiGs can't do A-A refuelling and have tiny fuel tanks so by the time you reach the conflict zone with a combat loadout and a centreline tank, the external is empty and you have a very small loiter time which evaporates to nothing as soon as you get engaged and RTB becomes extremely tricky, even to the nearby coastal airfields. Could the 29s be moved to an airfield closer to the conflict zone? Maybe to Krymsk?

 

AI aircraft (both CAP and bombers) activate their ECM as soon as you lock them, then deactivate it about 15-20 seconds later. I think this is default AI behaviour so just wanted to bring it up.

 

The AI CAP seem to be a bit far from the conflict zone to provide help when on the back foot (compared to the Kashuri mission), without player escort the ground pounders are very vulnerable even when far from the bullseye.

 

When attacked the convoys don't continue their route, and sit still for about 10+ minutes off-road.

 

I noticed that the AI CAP would sometimes start attacking ground objectives, the F16s started strafing and destroying static target Mi8s at the listening post objective.

 

(something positive!!) My fps seems to be much better on this map compared to the Kashuri map. Maybe because of all the ocean being rendered instead of terrain, but I noticed huge performance increases.

 

My overall opinion of the new mission is:

--Weather - Fantastic, so few servers combine rain/snow and low cloud to produce amazing flying conditions. FLIR and illumination bombs started to prove their worth! Would like to see some dawn/dusk conditions sometimes so the first/last hour of the mission are dark (but not quite night time) 9/10

-- Objectives - A great blend of familiar and new, ships add a whole new twist to tackling objectives 9.5/10

-- Aircraft placement at airfields - A tricky one because of limited airfield slots etc, but other than my MiG-29 gripe (more a personal thing than a bug/issue!) the aircraft feel well distributed across the different airfields. Maybe also have a single FARP hidden in the hills somewhere near(ish) the objectives so that helos can re-arm and refuel without going all the way back to the large FOB complex, kinda like the single FARP that's near Kashuri on the original map? 8.5/10

 

Overall, I absolutely love the new mission!!! :thumbup: 9/10

 

TLDR, Mirknir is the mission making Guru!
