Today again DCS crashes random in SP. I search on the forum, but I cant find any answer. Or someone can help me read the log. My log:

latest GPU drivers?

I've checked the drivers and they were up to date. I played not much but I crash aubout 75% of the games I start. With the same crash log only some number change. Sometimes I crash at a couple of minutes.

The last crash was a simple self made mission ( su-25 vs artillery). At the moment I wanted to park it crashes.

I've read that DCS world doesn't like overclocking, but I cant find the link anymore.

Did you try without overclocking? Your system, if that's a HD7950 videocard, should be good enough for DCS.

I turned ik back to 4.0 MHz. And for now it did the trick.Thanks.

Now waiting for 1.5 so I finally can use my hd7950 to the full!

There are no benefits to overclocking a GPU or CPU. It is a tech. Urban Myth. Check the PC Hardware sites to verify this. The 2 or 3 extra Frames one receives is hardly worth the headaches and ware on the components.

It is just a who's is bigger than who thing. No real value in Gaming or Real world apps.

Of course if just making it go faster is your thing then have at it. The idea that "I finally can use my hd 7950 to the full" as you say is quite the misnomer.

I stopped overclocking years ago, in the end something would always overcook.. CPU, mem or mobo or all at once. Indeed the couple of fps you gain isn't worth the boiling and steaming hardware likely to break at some point.

I think he was referring to DX11 to use his HD7950 to the full.

Sorry but some of these answers are just wrong. I managed to overclock my i5 from 3.4 Ghz to 4.2 Ghz and the effects in DCS alone were staggering. Hardly "a few frames per second". Of course if you don't pair a proper cooling solution with the overclock you will waste a lot of effort and your proc. will automatically downclock to prevent damage.

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Well there's different ways of overclocking, great that it works for you! From what i've noticed on multiple systems and multiple videocards (1 per system) is that the videocard makes a lot of difference for the fps, even cards that are fairly 'similar on paper' can make a huge difference up to twice the fps.

"Staggering" really? Placebo Effect I am sure unless you can post the numbers before and after. No DX9 software is going to result in better FPS.

This software has had issues with overclocked hardware for yrs. now, even back in 2011 there were users who couldn't keep the Sim running.

Anyway Moving on, to each his own.

Next!!

15-20% improvement in MIN FPS, in most areas. When the engine is so heavily CPU limited the minimum FPS that the game drops to is where you will notice the most improvement. One other thing to consider, you mileage may vary. No two CPUs will overclock to the same frequency and remain stable (i.e. the differnece between running smoothly and crashing) but the K series of Intel chips are mostly champs in that arena. Also how does CPU clock frequency depend on the graphics API? Im not sure I follow...
