Love the mod. How can I utilize this template in DCS 2.0 Nevada Map?

add template in ME in 1.5

goto ....\saved games\DCS.openbeta\MissionEditor\ copy templates.lua to

....\saved games\DCS.openalpha\MissionEditor\

or add appropriate lines to this file. you will then be able to select FOB template in 2.0's

I can post the updated templates for the FOB as well the supporting mod pack tonight. I will post both 1.5 and 2.0 templates.

I will also post a much smaller Patrol base that I have been using in some missions. The patrol base does not have a helicopter pad inside and so it uses a desert box.

Hopefully this will solve your issues.

Incredible job Jacks,

Please can you tell me your method for placed all these elements with a so great precision ?

Do you use two DCS and two PC for the placement of your elements ?

In advance a great thnaks for your explanation and your sharing, Skull.

Skullleader, I wish I had a good method but unfortunately I placed each unit by in the Me and that entered the the game and moved it it a small amount each time. I think I probably had to enter the game and move units about 2000 times to make this FOB!

I used a spare unit as reference and placed the rectangular unit symbol so one of its corners aligned with the corner of the unit I wanted to move and then I used this a reference so I could move a unit precisely in the X and y direction.

One issue I faced is adding them to a single group so a template could be created. By adding a new unit to a group, the unit is placed south of the last created unit which is not normally a problem but when you have to create 100 new units, they end spawning a good distance from you are working. So instead I created lots of groups containing a small number of units and then at the end edited the .miz config lua file and moved them into a single 100 unit group.

There is no particular skill required to make these detailed templates just time and patience and the only specialist skill I had was probably experience of designing and building such fortifications in Afghanistan.

I believe that if you have open beta and 1.5 installed at the same time you can run both together and use one to edit the template and one to view.

Hope this helps,

Jacks

Jacks congratulation because this EM is a real nightmare for created one camp as your FOB...

Sometime I make my camps for my missions but each time it's really not easy. I don't know if you know this video but I hope that one day the same EM will be available with our DCS World, it's really more easy like that.

Thanks again, Skull.

I can't use this item. :/ I copy all the files in the DCS world mod directory and the mission in the UH1 mission single directory but the FOB camp does not appear. I've only some truck and infantry. How can I add this item correctly?

Same here. I only get the Chinook, some infantry and mortars. Must be doing something wrong.

I will be uploading an updated mod pack and template. The mod pack will include all of the vehicles used (made by ranger79, the lights made by Lilkiki and a few mods by myself. Al you need to do is load the mod pack using JSGME and save the mission with the template. Then open the mission in ME, select the FOB group and click on create template. Save the template to the USA and name it to whatever you like. Then you can add the FOB into any of your missions by using the place template function in ME.

So as promised here is the updated mod.

Here is a link to the mod pack which works for both 1.5.2 and 2.0. the mod pack includes the updated Ranger79 Pack and the LZ Lights by Lilkiki (all credit to them) and so this one mod pack can be used in place of theirs. the mod pack also includes a small mod I did that allows the ISO containers to appear. The mod pack is JSGME ready.

Attached is a .miz file containing a template for FOB RANGER for 1.5.2 only and another .miz file containing the templates for FOB RANGER and a small Patrol Base called PB HAMILTON for DCSW 2.0 (i.e this version only works in NTTR!).

For both of these .miz files, open them in ME, select each group and save them as templates.

Here is a screenshot of the two bases in NTTR.

H Red, sadly it involving editing the mission lua and cutting and pasting each unit into the same group ensuring the correctly numbering convention is used.

To edit the lua file you will need to change the file name from .miz to .zip and then unzip to gain access to the individual files.

This mod is a template of the units supplied in the Ranger79 mod and relies on that mod for the units. If there are no units, you will need to check the ranger79 mod files and placement.

I downloaded the mod pack which included ranger79s mod (as far as I could tell). When I checked the folder they were there.

I also tried installing ranger79's object pack separately but then dcs Nevada wouldn't even load. I am probably making a basic error so will start checking everything again.
