Ok, review the 6 September Q&A, can someone confirm wags talk about a new AI Air to Air combat logic in progress? (based on the new AI acrobatic logic).

Other point, Wags talk about Normandy Map, that last talk about someone of a "new 3rd party" centred about them (not sure if the Spitfire entered into them), the old remains of RRG Studios with a new name? that can be a new 3rd party developing product on DCS: World sphere as BSK (part of ED in the past).

Only the Normandy map, the Spitfire and remaining planes are still ED's (units and such are ED's as well as far as I know). What or who the team is has not been revealed as of yet.

Thanks SiThSpawn. A new 3rd party on the road. Interesting :) Await news about the name of the new team.

I see a new 3D object on the simulator, the L-39 drop tanks (350L drop tanks?)

I never said it was a new 3rd party team, I dont know either way.

BFM means basic fighter maneuvers, vulgo dogfighting.

ah, indeed  another 3 letter word :)

While a very cool feature, the even more exciting result will be a much better AI BFM behavior.

yeah, ▲ my excitement came too quick and sudden :D but the reason is the same: smarter AI brain :bounce:

The old RRG Studios Team?

Certainly not a confirmation, but this is an interesting and potentially salient quote from the recent LNS September update:

Theatre development has been a learning process for us. We've already grown proficient with working with terrain in DCS world and we look forward to applying our new knowledge to continuously expand the world of DCS, whether it is to complement our own aircraft modules or those in development by other DCS developers.

Best Regards,

Having a 3rd party work on Normandy is the best news I 've heard on the DCS WW2 front for quite some time. The optimist inside me would like to think that this could be the first step in a WW2 map development process, where a dedicated team would acquire expertise on this period and keep expanding on new theaters after Normandy is released. Judging by Chizh's post, someone is working on period units as well, would it be this team?

DCS WW2 has tremendous potential if the proper period maps and aircraft sets appear. I would like to see DCS move to the idea of the original Kickstarter. DCS WW2 doesn't have to be a different install.I think that it would attract many more people if a part of DCS development was officially dedicated to it.

Q : would this mean that SOH and Normandy are being worked independently, hence we won't have to wait for the former to be released before we see the latter?

thanks

Will the WW2 map be free for the kickstarter backers or those who bought WW2 modules?

If you pledged more than 20$ you will get the normandy map.

Since ED still doesn't have a new map working correctly in EDGE, I suspect that any third party is going to have a very large learning curve.

NTTR is working in EDGE (in fact the tools themselves render and view the map in EDGE), a third party could be doing a lot of work on a map without worrying about getting it into the game. NTTR is purely in a refinement and bug squashing phase, no different than any other module added to the game.

SOH is being worked on by ED, in fact the work continues by the team responsible for building the map, while the other part works on addressing getting the maps in and the issues that arise with that. (logic dictates that most of these issues wont follow for the 2nd map, and maps to follow)

The tools have a big learning curve its true, but the people getting access to them are very intelligent skillful people. Many maps could be close to complete in the building phase, or atleast a ways along.

I appreciate the insight as well. Cichlidfan statement is pretty much spot on. The new map is working, but not working correctly. Are the issues in large due to the ATC and ground AI still? I would hope these problems are "layered" so to fix them would be easily carried over and imported into the maps that are currently being constructed.
