pr1malr8ge Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Ok, so I've had a few instances where I have been tracking a target in TWS with a soft lock and have been given shoot que with the aim7 selected.. While I have not tried to launch mainly in fear it wont do anything and cost me a missile. I think it could easily be mistaken for a SHOOT AUTHORIZATION and the WTF it never hit moment.. Or it does hit and again the blown up aircraft is WTF how did an Aim7 just kill me with no hard lock? Has anyone else have this happen and able to launch, and the aim7 actually track? For the WIN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]If your desired effect on the target is making the pilot defecate his pants laughing then you can definitely achieve it with a launch like that.
Svend_Dellepude Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 You get the cue but the sparrow won't track unless in STT. You also noticed that there is no symbology in the HUD for launch parameters and steering. Dunno how it is IRL but that's how the sim works. SDsc0rch Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 if you see it again, click "record" in shadowplay (or however you are able to record video) and you should try it and see what happens! i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

You will always get a shoot que with either TWS or STT selected sir, however you should always be firing Aim7s in STT, they are not designed to track in TWS. If you fire, the missile won't track. In these cases, the shoot que is referring to your 'ability' to shoot at your bandit, not necessarily fire while in that mode (TWS) as soon as the que is given. Tracking bandits in TWS is exactly what you should be doing, but if you choose to go SARH you need to lock him up STT before you fire, ideally 1 second before you fire :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 104th Phoenix Wing Commander / Total Poser / Elitist / Hero / Chad www.104thPhoenix.com www.facebook.com/104thPhoenix My YouTube Channel

I could have txted my cousin but didn't feel it was worth the time to txt him and bug him about something of that nature. as far as switch to STT thats exactly what I do.. IvanK Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I think if you try to fire in TWS the radar should switch to STT on the highest priority target ... The FA18A in 1983 certainly did this.
GGTharos Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 In RL got won't get a shot cue or lock/shot lights without a valid track for the given weapon IIRC. As for launching a 7 without being in STT, again IIRC in all cases that will cause the radar to go into FLOOD mode (unlike what we have in-game, FLOOD activation is automatic in the vast majority of use cases) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
