Crash to desktop

 

Just experienced crash to desktop when flying a10c in georgian campaign mission 4 or 5 (the mission where you have to signal the ground units to move forward).

 

Is there a kind of automatic log file that I can share with you guys?

 

The only thing that I can contribute now is that I had noticed that the alt + tab function had stopped working a few minutes earlier. (I wanted to paste a screenshot). Frames per second seemed also a bit lower than normal. I didn't notice anything else. The last thing I was doing was trying to set target to some of the last ground units that were remaining.

 

Windows 10, GTX770, 8Gb, Steam version (update to latest beta version), no mods.

 

Edit: I have added the log file as requested. There seem to be a few different errors, including:

I am also getting a lot of crashes but the event viewer shows various causes, one of them being the dx11backend.dll.

My system was configured to have one paging file, manually configured, over one disk only, my secondary SSD.

Windows 7 is installed in my primary SSD.

 

Under system properties, performance tab you can set that option.

 

If you have more than one paging file over more disks, try to set all them to system managed.

 

I can confirm that DCS doesn't crash anymore, since i changed the setting.

Hope this fix get this right.

I have just done this, and at the moment it running just fine. :thumbup:

 

Disabling shadows completely appears to work as a stop gap fix for this specific crash.

 

If Whitehot's solution eventually fails, i'll use this as a stop gap fix until a better one comes along.

As an update, I have incurred in the crash again, this time in another Hip campaign mission, and again happens always at the same point.

 

As previously stated, modifying the size of the pagefile seems to have alleviated the problem somehow in my system and another one (both 16GB ram), although users with less system RAM may well see no change at all.

 

This suggests that it could be related to the massive memory leak that is reported in other threads. Sadly, if that's the case, as users we can't do nothing; just wait until they fix it.

I have also had this happen over and over again for months now.

 

I can at least use open alpha for awhile before it happens

and I hope and pray that when 2.5 is released and everything

is put in one place and I can erase the other three versions

that not only will I get back an entire 120 gig hard drive, I

hope things will get better and not worse.

 

Flight Sims have been a large part of me spending thousands of dollars

building my water cooled pc and DCSW is the best flight sim in the WORLD

as far as I am concerned and I look forward to the big update !!!

I moved from steam VR to NON STEAM VR, because you have to wait longer for aircraft to come out in steam (pre-purchased F/A 18C non steam for VR setup) only to find with F-15C that DCS (non steam) CRASHES in VR 100% of the time.

 

Removed open alpha 2.2 and installed 1.5.

 

DCS non steam VR now works without crashing.

 

Will my pre-ordered FA 18C work with 1.5? or better yet, will my VR work with 2.5?

higher settings in my settings for dcs  video resolved the issue i turned shadows to flat
