Helios -> DCS World 1.5

Recommended Posts

Gents, before making the whole install-dance of everything, Helios might run again if you use it in another account. I solved an issue with ProfileEditor by this way: Created a user "Games" and transferred every game-related thing over to it. Still a little bit tedious, but splitting "Private/Work" things from "Games" helps avoiding conflicts with other account-related settings and/or software, saves resources, etc.

This is very interesting - were you logged into Windows 10 as an 'administrator' and running Helios 'as administrator' when the fault developed?

Not as thje 'real' Admin - just the user 'Games' with admin-rights. UAC is on.

Btw.: I'm using Win7, but this shouldn't matter concerning security/resources.

Hi

Yes all fixed. Unfortunatly went down a fresh install of windows 10 route :(

Its been a while since i did a fresh install and have upgraded from windows 7 to 8 and then to 10 so was probably worth doing.

All is now working correctly again and i have now configured the restore point within windows 10.

Thanks

Sorry about stupid question but should Helios work with F-15C for DCS World module or do I need FC3?

bouncerj21,

Oh, that's good news - not too painful I hope.

Out of interest, did you try RightStuff's posts (#50 and #52) before deciding to reinstall the OS?

That's a bit of a naughty one (Windows 10 Restore Points) don't you think?

I dont suppose anyone can make a HOWTO: from start to finish with DCS 1.5? There is no solid info to setup Helios in 1.5 much less 1.2. I have the Profile running but no gadgets move when I run DCS.. It is setup in the Helios software. Most stuff posted is all you guys coming from 1.2.

Which profile are you using?

Captain Zeen for an example gives you all the things that you need. You need a new export.lua (make sure it's for 1.5) to replace the old one in your savedgames folder and you need to setup your monitorconfig in DCS/config/monitorsetup if you want MFCD's and such.

You have to activate that monitorconfig in the ingame options menu, including setting the new resolution, ex. if you have 2x1080p monitors it will be 3840x1080.

In the Helios profile editor you have to "reset monitors" under profile, then you can activate it in the Helios control center.

Even if you don't use captain Zeen's profiles, I would recommend downloading a profile and reading his instructions, they are exellent!

This worked for me, and hopefully it will work for you.

Good luck!

Cheers

Robin

I have set it up before and got it working but not on 1.5 new install.

Im trying both Captain Zeen and LoF profiles. Once connected should the dials come to life independent of position? I understand I need position for the MFD, Clock and add those in the lua. but the profile is just dead as if nothing is connected to DCS from Helios.

Export Lua should be in Savedgames?

Helios is not connecting to Dcs.. I have used the 1.5 profile here http://www.captzeen.com/helios/downloads.asp

Launch Helios Control center. Hit start.. Launch Dcs but nothing gets activated when i fly the a10c.. Missing a simple thing here just dont know what it is..

Open Profile-Editor, load your profile.

  1. Menu: Profiles - Reset Monitors (... according to your setup) - OK
  2. Left upper corner: Profile Explorer: Scroll down to "Interfaces" - Double click your module (Ka-50, A-10, ...)
  3. Middle Upper Window - scroll down to "xxx Setup" (xxx= your current module)
  4. If button to the right says "Setup xxx": click it.
Check install path: if OK and button says "Remove Helios Setup": Don't touch it!
If path not OK: click remove-button and after that that click "xxx Setup".
  5. Save profile
  6. Run it

This is the complete dance to activate a new Helios-profile.

Hope it helps... Good luck!

into Dcs World Open Beta/Config/Export/ and Dcs World Open Beta/Scripts

Hm... I'm using the export.lua of Zeen as well...

There are too many destinations for the export.lua.

Honestly, I don't know which one's the right one.

I have copied it to my personal folder as well:

C:\users\{me}\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\

You might give it a try?

Hi Maestro72x,

Have you figured it out yet...

I saw your post earlier but wasn't able to help as I wasn't at home.

Hope you've got it sorted but if not shout up :)

Hi Maestro72,

I said I'd be back to offer some help if I can - this may be difficult because I'm not sure what stage of the installation you're at.

If you have followed the advice offered by others so far, you may just need to ensure you have copied and pasted the specific Instrument Init Lua's (included in LOZ A-10C V2.1) to the correct folders on your computer. Suggest you backup the originals before overwriting, just for peace of mind and as a fall-back.

Here's a list of where these files need to be placed

1. AN_ALR69V_init.lua

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\AN_ALR69V\indicator

2. CMSC_init.lua

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\CMSC\

3. CMSP_init.lua

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\CMSP\indicator\

4. DIGIT_CLK_init.lua

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\DigitalClock\Indicator\

5. freq_status_init.lua

6. preset_channel_init.lua

7. repeater_init.lua

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\UHF_Radio\indicator\

Here's a link to download LOZ A-10C V2.1

Look forward to hearing how you get on...

After checking LoZ A10 v2.0, I didn't get it working with Captain Zeen's export.lua either. It works with the rest of his profiles atleast.

It's been a while since I used LoZ profile so I can't help you more on that.

I think your doing it right, but your probably in need of a different export.lua, and yes, it's in user/saved games folder.

Hopefully Slicker's solution works for you!
