I updated my system and had to wipe my windows isntall. In order not to go through the utterly painful process of setting up my controls for all modules again, I backed up my settings from the users "Saved Games" folder. After copying back, the problem is, that my controls are still assigned somehow, but the same for every device (see screenshot). This also happens when I buy a new module, instead of a blank config, I get a somehow correct but also messed up one to start with.

Is there a way I can recover this?

Kind of how mine looked on a fresh install of 1.5... I ended up having to go in and wipe out on the duplicates, but then I was building my controls from scratch anyway for the new 1.5 beta install.

You "may" have been better off first exporting your commands, then after the new install importing them back in...

I know I did it this way when I first installed 1.5 and it seemed to work very well, but then when Wags told us not to do this from 1.2 into 1.5, I ended up deleting mine out and starting over fresh and manually assigning them.

I know that probably does not help you now, but without that exported file you may be stuck with having to do it manually. Maybe someone with more experience with this can offer better tips.

Having used LockOn/DCS for a number of years I have just resigned myself to the fact that after every major update/release I will have to manually re-assign my controls.

The reason being is that there are too many small changes made and fiddling around trying to copy/paste or import etc just ended up being more of a pain than just re-assigning a clean install. I have a worksheet for each module that I work from and it doesn't take too long (too much practice) Also, I only have about 6modules so not as bad as some.

Good luck.

Thanks for you help guys. I figured out what the problem was. Since I have new USB ports the filenames didnt match.

Now my solution.... I assigned some buttons in DCS, this created config files for joystick, throttle and pedals. From these files I figured out the new number (e.g. {86D33930-7120-11e5-8001-444553540000}. Then I used this tool: Renamer to batch replace the numbers in my backup configs to match the ones created by the new install of DCS.

At least this works for backup and restore for the same version of DCS. For updates this probably might mess up some modules because of changes to the inputs.
