I tested both push to talk and free voice recognition. Running into the same issues.

 

Could it possibly be that voice attack doesn't recognize me very well?

Well from this log it seems that the PTT keys are not being used correctly.

If things are well, the log should show something like below when you press/release a PTT hotkey:

Since this is not the case here maybe you should check which keys/buttons you have configured for PTT and then try again with using these.

Now I just have to get Voice attack to recognize my words better. Every second word is completely butchered....

I tried to send you a private message but it didnt seem to get through....

 

Even tho i have made giant leaps when it comes to VAICOM, I am still encountering a weird problem.

 

I have set DCS easy comms to off, however when starting a mission with VAICOM, it fetches the data as easy comms on, so whenever i try to call a tower on a certain frequency, it changes the VHF channel to the closes ATC and contacts them.

 

I have manually turned the easy com to false in the VAICOM settings however it still does the same thing. I have also turned the Auto_ATC_select to false as i thought thats was the cause, however that too didnt do the trick

 

Please look at the log below, maybe you can find the culprit.

@tribundf Yes from the log it seems the settings readout works fine but it concludes that Easy Comms is set to ON.

It may have to do which DCS version you're using. Check the note for openbeta users attached to first post and if that doesn't fix it PM me again.

Can you check if these URI messages are gone after Start Mission.

If not you may need to re-inspect the path in the fetch.cmd script.

In the log it sets Easy Comms to false so I'm assuming you changed that in the profile defaults.

If you enter a quickstart mission mid-air, try calling 'ATC, airborne' before you proceed with inbound, etc.

Also try what happens if you use the airfield name instead e.g. 'Batumi, inbound'.

NB as I'm sure you've read in the manual the Select command is not available with Easy Comms OFF.

Have a look and let me know how it goes.

Hey Hollywood, thanks for getting back with me.

 

I did get everything to work properly in 1.5 release version

 

I do however still have challenges with DCS Nevada 2.1.6. Easy comms are off. When flying the quickstart takeoff mission and trying to call "Nellis Control" i always end up in the Tonapah Test Range Airfields comm menu. I did have Auto ACT Select activated.

 

When Auto ATC select is false, I get the "ATC not selected" error in voice attack.

 

At this point I starred at it too long, that nothing makes sense anymore, ha, so any help would be appreciated.

Im struggling guys.... ha

 

Got everything to work just fine with DCS 2.1.6.

 

Downloaded the latest static ATC as well as imported the new VAICOM Towers into my profile.

 

Problem is, that I am still getting the wrong ATC when calling. I am on Nellis and when i request startup it puts me in the Tonapah comm menu. Same with Mc Carren....

 

Can anybody assist me?

Hey tribundf yes I got the PM thanks. Not quite sure what could be causing the ATC issue. On startup VAICOM defaults to the nearest airfield.

With Easy Comms OFF you'll obviously need to select the frequency for the correct tower but you shouldn't end up in any menu if the command is properly recognized.

Can you check the log if it's a recognition problem else perhaps check with @sthompson who worked on the NTTR airfields.

As for the actual cause of ending up in the tonapah comm menu, it seems like there is one wrong command in there somewhere that causes VAICOM to not go to the right comm menu. I changed the radio lua files from sthompson but it didn't seem to work.

 

Could you elaborate on how VAICOM is setup with comm menu? Is it using the radio lua files? It doesn't work with the F keys at all does it?

Ok the issue doesn't sound familiar but I'll see if I can reproduce.

VAICOM 2.0 sends virtual key sequences; upcoming new version is built on a different approach.

Haven't been able to reply for a while due to real life constraints. Tonight I double checked that VAICOM is working for me on DCS 2.1.1.6837.230 on the Nevada map with my latest static ATC mod files and with the Nevada airfield mod to VAICOM that I circulated previously. I start a simple mission in the F15 cold start and call each of the airfields to get startup permission. Everything seems to be working fine for me so I don't know what your problem is. Seeing the log might help.

 

Are you using the right callsigns? The VAICOM mods I distributed for Nevada assume you use callsigns rather than the name of the field (when they are different). To call Tonopah Test Range you would use the callsign Silverbow, for example. See https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3099732#post3099732

 

The static ATC mod files that I circulated need to be placed in exactly the locations of the originals by Whartsell, which are the locations of the files by the same names in a clean DCS installation. These locations are indeed under the Scripts folder, but you need to find the right subfolders.

ok, I am in the free flight instant mission in the A10C and I am trying to call different ATCs for a vector. Every ATC i am calling goes to Nellis Control. Easy comms are on menu set defaults are as follows:

Seems like all calls go to Nellis. I call Indian Springs or LasVegas for vector, but It always goes to nellis control.

And to make extra sure... I did do the same F15 cold start mission and tried to call different ATC's.... again all went to NellisControl

bug fixed in Nevada towers command

 

Your log helped me identify a bug in the Nevada towers command set. You can find the corrected file at the original post here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3158825#post3158825. To install it, first delete the existing "IndianSprings" command from your profile and then unzip and import the replacement command attached to that post. The bug caused the recipient to not be identified (and thus default to the most recent recipient) whenever the recognized command included more than just the callsign for the field. Hope this fixes your problem Tribundf!

 

To answer your other question: I use one copy of VoiceAttack (I'm using the latest release version 1.6.7) and have a modified version of fetch_data.cmd that loads whichever mission file is most recent across the various DCS directories. It includes a command to copy the openalpha mission of the form

 

IF EXIST %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS.openalpha\tempMission.miz (

ECHO f | XCOPY /D /Y %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS.openalpha\tempMission.miz TEMP\tempMission.zip

)

 

This copies the openalpha mission only if it is newer than the one loaded from the release version. Seems to work for me.

ok, I am in the free flight instant mission in the A10C and I am trying to call different ATCs for a vector. Every ATC i am calling goes to Nellis Control. Easy comms are on menu set defaults are as follows:

 

Auto_ATC - false

Auto_ATC_select - true

 

Seems like all calls go to Nellis. I call Indian Springs or LasVegas for vector, but It always goes to nellis control.

I've double checked to make sure my PTT is set up correctly and it is. I made sure the key bindings for my HOTAS mic controls are correct and they are. I make sure that my frequencies are right and then speak the commands. I get the log to tell me the commands are correct and that it has executed the commands but DCS doesn't do anything. I make sure I say start mission and that works just fine but when I call inbound or call my wingman nothing. I turned off the pilot no voice but I don't hear him. Hence why I believe that the program is not executing what is supposed to. I need some help, I really want to use these profiles as it is way better than my simple profile I set up. I don't want to say f1, f2 all the time.

Hey Dooley - no worries.

Just to check do you have a US keyboard layout? If not it may be related to that, see note attached to first post.

Also make sure to hold the PTT button long enough i.e. do not release until the command is fully executed (you'll hear 2 beeps).

Keep up the faith, I messed with this for almost a month (off & on) and was about to give up the whole VA/Vaicom process, but suddenly it worked and I'm not sure what I did.

 

One suggestion I'll make is to REMOVE all the DCS profiles you've imported, so you're back to just 'My Profile'. I think they somehow got corrupted on my system (symptoms below). Then import the A-10 profile only, assuming a) you're flying the Hawg, and b) you don't need the F-15 (yet maybe).

 

A 2nd suggestion is to keep DCS window'd (not full screen) so you can observe what VA is 'hearing'. And make sure to follow along with concise, slow speech as you watch the VA screen. And wait for the confirmation beeps before you release the mic switch.

 

When I did that, after checking everything else mentioned via this thread, all was good with COMMS and using the VAICOM has added a pleasure to this sim I haven't experience the since those two girls in ###### back in '43 :)

 

@Hollywood_315, perhaps you could look at these symptoms and comment;

 

First, I should apologize for not keeping the log file but if it is stored somewhere after several days please let me know so I can provide. I'll have to paraphrase :(

 

This was using VA v1.6.7, VAICOM 2.0 for DCS World (A-10C profile), DCS World v1.5.7.7741, TM HOTAS

 

Symptoms:

 

*Recognized 'Batumi' and several other Caucasus airfields but VA error mentioned it was 'not in theatre'.

*Could reach 'Chief' with no problem but no ATC response from anywhere I began missions. Maybe ATC on day long lunch break?

*Attempting ATC contact at Kobuleti while 'parked cold' it was somehow calling for 'Kolkhi', when using FKeys menu I got no response as above. [Keep in mind I'm from US and have no discernible accent, other than an occasional foul mouth]

Here's where I extend my sincere appreciation to Hollywood for this gem of a mod, and those that have gone before me. It's now working so well that I have added cockpit commands like 'Gear Up', 'Gear Down', etc. This is getting too cool now!!!
