New Radar Display for 1.5

Hi,

 

I just noticed that the SA-15 Tor radar display is not present in the upper left corner even though the radar is turning...

 

If I change to a SA-8 Osa the radar display is present.

 

The radar display was present in the SA-15 a few days ago, before the latest update to DCS World 1.5.

 

Any idea what might cause this problem and how I can fix it?

I think it is an interesting development but we really need the HUD system in CA to start supporting positioning of HUD elements in 3D space just as is done with the aircraft.

 

At the moment none of the 2D HUD style elements work for VR and I think it is because they are not elements drawn into 3D space.

 

Who is going to make a PPI EDM in 3dMax? SD do you want to do that?

 

Maybe the first version can be very basic like this 2D one.

Well the HUD is a feature of moderns versions. I think all the A-D versions actually in the game are still Soviet era, so probably no HUD, but a reticle or distance indicator displayed. In the case of the TOR you can see digital instruments, but not as HUD. In the case of the OSA-AKM version, is still analog instruments.

pepin, I think you misunderstand what I mean by HUD. I mean the 2D arcade style overlay used in CA.

 

CA only has an arcade style overlay but the aircraft in DCS can put this overlay onto a glass surface to replicate a real glass HUD.

 

Most real life armour and anti-air units have a collimated sight or a they have a TV type display or a PPI or all of the above. In CA you cannot have these things because it is not yet supported.

The only matter to see a realistic HUD, instrument, control, etc on CA, has ED make "pilot-able" vehicles or vehicle modules and build funtional interior "cockpits" similar as a aircraft or a helo 3D cockpits with clicleable controls. I think, actualy CA with the PIP radar has similar to SamSimulator cabin style (2D).

 

Not bad if the funtionality of cabin controls and misile systec will be implemented to make them more realistic (wishlist)

Radar display needs more features and be presented in more realistic way. The circle, fade, noise, CRT effects.

 

Other vehicles need management panel, where you choose ammo type ect. Make it more advanced.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Thanks SD for the road map update. Have you noticed the level of detail on the "SAM Hawk TR AN/MPQ-46"? Are we possibly getting some sort of functionality to operate this system in CA? :)

Not sure if ED can make some similar, but the problem can be make 3 radar operate on a battery command post.

If there is an ED, then there is a way to make it happen. :D

3D Model detail has no bearing on anything. They continuously update old models to or beyond the standard established with BS, regardless of the unit being player-controllable or not.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.
