Geskes
With the setup in my sig I get satisfactory performance in dcs 2.0 but not satisfactory enough, so I want to upgrade either CPU or GPU. I am tempted to go for GPU, do you guys agree that would be the best upgrade to get better performance on dcs 2.0? Thank you for any suggestions. OnlyforDCS
Yes, your I7 is a little bit old, but it should still be pretty OK in DCS, I would invest in a new GPU first. Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals. con3para
DX11 is GPU bound , i would invest in a graphic card , GTX970 at least 4GB vram. Then later on a new cpu . Geskes
About to pull the trigger here but I am tempted to go for a 960 with 4gb considering the price and my already old cpu which would then become a bottleneck for the gpu? Rangi
About to pull the trigger here but I am tempted to go for a 960 with 4gb considering the price and my already old cpu which would then become a bottleneck for the gpu? It may be a false economy, I would say a 970 is minimum as suggested, if you can stretch for a 980 that would be even better. PC: 6600K @ 4.5 GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX 970, 32" 2K monitor. Geskes
Thanks all for chiming in. The general would kill me if I bought a 980.. :) So I have asked the retailer around the block whether I could trade 960 for 970 if it did not perform enough and it was no big deal. So I went for 960 at first. All settings equal but moving visibility from medium to high I now have double or even more fps over Vegas. I have about 45-55 fps there now in the huey. That is good enough for me so I think I will keep it at a 960. I have plenty performance now and still money left to survive the overly expensive December month :) I'll evaluate untill the weekend though and make a final decision then. Edit: This is the exact card: MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4GB GDDR5 Edited December 2, 2015 by Geskes I7920/12GBDDR3/ASUS P6T DELUXE V2/MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4G /WIN 10 Ultimate/TM HOTAS WARTHOG
