TomCatMucDe
DCS: AJS-37 Viggen Discussion Sweden is a very small country with just 9 million people but extremely well educated ones. It's impact on art science and technology is phenomenal! Including aviation! The innovation within the Viggen and other airplanes helped shaping modern aviation. In short, Sweden deserves a DCS mod and I am buying it Edited December 7, 2015 by TomCatMucDe

Radbes
Please note that this cockpit is a very early version of the AJ-37 and later rebuilt as a platform for tests. The individual is 37-61 and was decomissioned in 1982 and scrapped, but is presserved at a museum (in a very poor state, with almost all exterior panels removed for educational purposes). The AJS-37 was a modification made from 1991 and the cockpit has a lot of differences. Sim Flyer
Does anyhere know exactly how the cockpit from the AJS-37 from 1991 looks like, all i have been able to find were simular to that one (http://www.4pisr.se/index.php?option...display&id=320) Also does anyone knows if the radar on the AJS can be used to track enemy planes with or is it dedicated A-G radar? Brisse
the proper enemy is Mig-23 an Mig-27. But Im sure there were situations where Mig-21 Bis was involved That's right, and this is the reason why they took their time when developing the JA-version. The MiG-21 didn't have the long legs required to escort Soviet bombers all the way over to Sweden. It wasn't until the MiG-23 that they gained that capability, so the need for the JA came with the MiG-23. Flamin_Squirrel
+1000  I'm so glad we are getting the Viggen, it's a dream come true ;) Can't wait to get my hands on it! In most HUD equipped aircraft, it's just the pitch ladders that move during rolling manoeuvres; it appears it's the whole thing in the Viggen, how strange! OnlyforDCS
Also does anyone knows if the radar on the AJS can be used to track enemy planes with or is it dedicated A-G radar? I would also like to know the answer to this question. Even if the radar couldn't lock on to airborne targets, it could still provide some essential SA so that the pilot could decide whether it was time to close in and engage with Sidewinders or simply Bug Out. Corrigan
Also, Cobra, do me a solid. As a boy growing up in Texas, the Viggen was one of my favorites as a kid. How does an American boy fall in love with the Viggen? This is how. We need this as a livery. :music_whistling: That is the single ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life. I love it. Grundar
That is the single ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life. I love it. Ha, I remember the actual toys that you wore on rings on your fingers. There was an adjustable plastic ring (gold coloured) that you wore on your finger - a clear plastic strut and atop it the aircraft with some outlandish paint job. It's been a long time but my brother and I had the Viggen, a Phantom, Mig-29 the F-19 (hehe lol did they ever get that model wrong - everyone pre F-117 reveal lol). Brisse
I see videos of my first landing are appearing already. ;) Aah. The good old pilot induced oscillation problem. It lead to two accidents involving the Gripen, before they realized they had to introduce a specific filter in the fly-by-wire system to avoid this problem. If I recall correctly, the F-22 had the same problem during it's development and the same filter was also used to fix the F-22. The Viggen is not fly-by-wire and is a stable aircraft so the same thing is unlikely to happen there.
