Anton, those radios look great! 👍

Hopefully your order finally arrives and we can see them in action 🙂

How did you implement the simulation of the flipping cover?

Read sensors or microswitches?

Thank you!

I didn't implement cover opening detection 🙄

The only workable control under it is the load button. I figured that If it turns out that load button cannot be pressed without opening I will write a short macro.

I think you mean "reed switches". 😜   Those are the mechanical magnetic switches, usually in a tiny glass tube. Then there are Hall effect sensors, which are electronic magnet sensors.

Another option is to hide a switch plunger as one of the "load" connector pins in such a way that the cover presses it down when closed and releases it when open.

Yes, reed contacts  English isn't my first language 🤭

As the Load button isn't used that often, your proposal seems to be a good workaround.

It's one of the pitfalls of English.
Words spelled the same, but pronounced differently.  Words pronounced the same, but spelled differently.  Sometimes both. 🤣
e.g.
Reed - Thin grass-like plant (where the reed switch gets its name).
Read - Pronounced the same as reed above, but it's what you're doing now.
Read - Pronounced "red" - past tense of read above.

When the Mosquito comes along, I'm gong to be looking into Hall effect sensors for the starter/boost covers.
I've got some 3144s and some tiny magnets.  They'll work through a thin layer of some materials, so they're easy to hide.

NMSP. 3d printed button and indicator housings.

CMSP
controlled from single arduino mega pro (the "mini" mega)I'm using SLG2016 for top row and HCMS2903 for bottom row.
After several hours of pain, retracing and adopting code I got both rows to work. Brightness is for now not adjustable, I'm not sure what to do about the non uniform brightness of the bottom row. But the end result is usable. Still need to code for the DCS-BIOS interface.

After few tries, I managed to get the hang of soldering SOT-23-6 elements. can get tricky with the delayed image from my cheap scope. the "huge" 1206 resistor for comparison.

Emergency panel . still need to cut vinyl yellow striping.
turned the manual reversion knob out of Derlin plastic and used it atop the guarded NKK switch instead of the factory handle. the thread on those NKKs is M7-0.75 if anyone is curious. This panel came out really good to my liking so I decided to splurge for proper switches

Almost all of the honeywell locking switches were purchased on ebay through the years.

Are you looking for locking on-off-(on) aka the cockpit canopy switch by a chance? Because otherwise NKK does have all the configurations.  If so I have a right switch for you that I can spare.

Ah eBay yes off course. Haven't looked on there for a while...

And indeed, that is the config I'm looking for.

Do you have a search term I can look for? Typenumber perhaps?

I'm looking to get several eventually, so you keep yours 🙂

Thanks for the offer though! 😄

(OT: the AHCP-XL is still very much in use 🥳 )

That panel is almost 9 years now. Sheesh, time flies.

Look for either 1TL1-5 or 2TL1-5 first digit is the number of poles, last digit signifies your desired behavior of momentary action on one of the sides. If I'm not mistaken suffix letter of "K"  (so 2TL1-5K altogether) will signify the desired locking action, but I might be reading the locking config chart wrong.  will need to get home and read the PN to tell you for sure.

I didn't find proper switch listed on ebay at the moment.

You are right, suffix letter "K" stands for "locked in center and (one) extreme position". See page 10 of the datasheet

redone the LASTE with proper switches. EAC switch guard is pending.

Time has finally come for the intercom device I purchased from @Deadman 7 years (WHAAAAT!???) ago. or was it 8 years? ...
Face plate redone. SMT LEDS are placed in engraved/dremmeled recesses and connected into chains with thin wire strands.  clear tape to insulate  the exposed wiring from the metal backplate. new "skirt" with engraved cations for the main rotary selector switch.

I bet Please don't take offence perhaps i am looking at the sas panel wrong but it looks like the top has a slope to it. Why?

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

No offence taken and you have eyed the slope perfectly - it is indeed non rectangular. SAS as well as the upgraded IFF panel.
Reason is to accommodate composite angles of my console -the outer row is tilted towards the pilot and is converging towards the top.

as you can see I applied a bit of creative license to my panel arrangement.

I totally understand that area has some interesting angles going on especially where the platform for the emergency brake  and canopy jett housings go. Real pain in the ass to model even with real parts at hand.

I'm taking a short break from building  to learn how this contraption I built flies and finally get some enjoyment from it . Joined a virtual squadron of a-10c drivers and doing some training. I'm the number #3 on that screenshot. Somehow managed to hold it steady long enough for the lead to snap this picture . Almost looks like I can formation 😄
