small wishes with big impact, netcode, scripting, chat

Hey ED!

Congratz to the release of 1.5! Its a big improvement over 1.2, but theres some small things that I personally think would improve gameplay heaps:

- bring the new netcode, please!! End the rubberbanding, the framerate-decreases and the fricken crashes. especially when theres so many people online. Please make this your highest priority. Dynamic campaigns can come after, the netcode is really the gameplaykiller no1 for me.

- fix the scripting. Proper scripting would skyrocket user generated content. Please move this up a bit on the priority list (right after the netcode)

- improve the chat! The chat really feels like its something that had to be implemented, and it has been done quick'n'dirty. it works, but it really needs some love

- fix some of the small bugs, like the Su27 losing the ENR mode after respawn, they've been around for too long. I can't really imagine they are so much work to fix.

In general I think DCS-World is in a good shape regarding big features, it might be a good time now to polish out the gameplay-killers in the details.

Thank you very much for your hard work, it is very much appreciated!

Posts of the type "Can't you guys see it's broken? You better damn fix it" or "They way you did it sucks, you can do better!" usually don't generate a lot of attention with the devs.

If you want to contribute, write posts of the type "Feature x has problem y, when actually it should work like z. You can reproduce it if you follow steps a,b and c. See the attached screenshot and track for illustration."

Or on the topic of wishlists: "Feature x works right now but if we also had y, it would be a lot more useful to players". Telling a dev he needs to invest some "love" into a feature really isn't all that much to go on. He probably knows himself that it needs work. What he possibly doesn't know about is a cool feature that you saw somewhere else or thought about that would enhance capability.

Oh and rewriting the netcode is *not* a small wish.

+1 to sobek here... While a lot of people play online, a lot of us don't! It's more important to get the game working on a general level (helps everyone) than fixing multiplayer functionality (helps some people).

I'm not going to claim any percentage of who does what and how large a group of people play multiplayer, I just know that priorities tend to be sorted by how grave the bug is and how many people are affected.

ASUS Z170-P w/ Intel i7-7700, 32GB DDR4 RAM, SSDs out the wazoo and a GTX 1080Ti,

Oculus Rift CV1, TM Warthog stick and throttle, TM Cougar MFDs, MFG Crosswind pedals and WheelStandPro Warthog (w/ the custom small Warthog plate)

If we apply that logic, then MP has much more growth potential. :D

There may be a generation of people out there that learned to enjoy their sims offline and they may still be the majority, that doesn't mean that that can not or will no change in the future. If i had the time right now, i'd rather play with dedicated humans than with AI.

You're right. I apologize for my juvenile rant. I just could not hold myself back after the 5th crash this evening and 10th bandit rubberbanding away from my missiles. Sometimes emotions cook over, and the only reason for that it: it's so much fun to fly online against real others. So even though sometimes the anger cooks over, it's only because I enjoy this sim so much. I sincerely look forward to a time when most bugs are ironed and the new netcode doubles the joy of online gaming.

I've sims played offline for years. Ever since I started online I play a lot more and the fun quadrupled. I can only recommend it. Of course you are free to play on or offline ;)
