nav/formation lights only show on your own aircraft in multiplayer

Hi, just now playing multiplayer, my mate and myself both had our nav and formation lights on. I could see my lights on in f2/f3 view but my mate's lights were off. Same way round, my mate could see his lights on, but not mine.

 

Had a look through the bug section and saw a few issues with lights, but didn't see this specific issue reported. Maybe I'm blind though :) Sorry if I am and if this is a duplicate.
