Official Campaign thread

Very nice.

If I may suggest somethings :) ...

-multiplayer/dual players

-France allied with Russia

- "Let's be bad guys"

Multiplayer- very difficult to do in the story driven campaign with many voiceovers. I'd rather publish several missions in MP mode, especially that it would be technically difficult to make a MP campaign with progressing missions. Besides, some of the training missions might not be exactly super exciting in MP :)

France allied with Russia - won't happen. Even though France might have been seen as relatively close to Russia at the time, there is no way that there could be such an alliance. And against whom? Georgians? US? Plus this is getting into politics - something we should avoid.

Bad guys - a more likely scenario for that would be flying UAE for instance (I can imagine political changes there that would lead to them becoming bad guys). But I wouldn't be interested in creating such a campaign anyway, sorry!

WTF ?

Ok no politic here...

Nice teaser with a very nice accent, whose accent is it for the background voiceover ??? :)

A person playing the squadron commander in the campaign, his name is in the video :)

There will be more similar teasers featuring other key people - player, second US pilot, AMC etc.

zaelu, you have to remember that this is not a 3rd party independent add-on campaign. It's the 'default' campaign for the Razbam Mirage 2000C module.

So any multiplayer element would have to be firstly their decision and secondly, having it would again open that can of worms about licensing and copy protection.

Edit: I'll just rephrase that, to avoid misunderstanding.

By saying a decision by Razbam, I mean I'm sure it is not something that Baltic can just decide on his own, as he has been tasked to do something specific for the Mirage (an SP campaign). Also - the 'why aren't the payware campaigns multiplayer' thing has been discussed a lot, and it would involve some headaches in the area of the producers protecting their product. Although it might be easier if it just involved two players on a direct connection - that would also present its own extra burden on the devs, that I'm sure they could do without at the moment (they are rather busy, I gather ;) )

12 August 2008

A ceasefire between Russia and Georgia is signed under the auspices of EU, led by the French Presidency.

This one ?! : https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3c/Nicolas_Sarkozy_%282008%29.jpg/220px-Nicolas_Sarkozy_%282008%29.jpg

Please no, this is a (FAF) american commanded agent submitted to financial mafia and a New World Order enthousiast, led only by money... A substantial traitor just after the current one (which is just undescriptible), who should be in jail for "forfaiture" now...and he is totally unable to lead a ceasefire, the only thing he know do is: obey to washinton... and self interest... Please go more back in past, before France become an Washington's dominion...

Ok... nevermind...

Like it or not, it was him :D the campaign is purely fictional!

So, if I purchase the M2000, the campaign is included for free? That would definitely influence my purchase decision.

Yes Sir, that is the deal. Once it is ready, that is, which should be around M-2000C getting out of beta I hope.

The multiplayer can be made (I think... why not) exactly like the multiplayer of L-39. Both players must have the module and campaign in this case for them to play.

Imho, somebody could say... I have a market of 10 000 people that plays only single player but doesn't take into account the millions of players that play gazzilions of multiplayer games and wouldn't touch a single player oriented game/campaign.

When I made my remark about France allied with Russia I wasn't meaning politics necessarily although in this field... air combat... is hard to differentiate much. I was simply remembering the Normadie-Niemen squadron and the fact that only in the town I live there is a Boulevard Stalingrad and a radio (Nice-Radio) that is Franco-Russe radio. As for politics... I am glad France is more Socialist. I really like that they still remember the meaning of those famous 3 words. For enemy in a campaign you don't really need to have real countries... unless politics... errr... You can have fictional separatists, drug-lords, etc. Or simple training.

As for bad guys... Again... pointing UAE as possible bad guys is a bit politically... I was thinking more to fictional conflicts/disputes. Me and my friends have impersonate members of a Mercenary Group splinted from VVS and we fight our own agenda against or pro different silly fictional groups... we don't try to be too politically correct or moral and we like when the creator of a mission (sometimes we take turns in writing the stories within a campaign like in an old pen and paper RPG) makes a turns of events that are challenging our moral values or at least our current allegiance in the said fictional conflict.

Of course... what I say is just suggestions... can be very well rubbish... what works for some might not work for many.

But ED have told us this isn't the case - more like the opposite.

I don't know the ins and outs, but the protection is what has been given as a reason before - I suppose because the current system saves a mission on a multiplayer server on every participant's PC. That's why I mentioned a direct session between two players (who would have licences, of course) rather than a public server. But if it was playable in MP, how would they stop someone from using it on a public server?

Then everyone would have the mission, whether they flew in the specific aircraft or not.

That's my understanding - might be more to it than that. Wouldn't be an issue with a module, I guess, but would with DLC campaigns.

The ideas are interesting, but won't work for this campaign, which is already in progress and based on different ideas. But options you mention, especially MP campaign are worth investigating. It requires a completely different approach from the outset!

i am for multiplayer coop campaign! if not in M2000C, would suggest it for FC3, particularly to target the upcoming oculus rift users!

Just the question about DRM of this campaign. Will it be (like in Your payware campaigns) or not, like for full module of DCS addon (BS2, MiG-21bis, A-10C ect)? I hope no any separate DRM, just key of M2000 module must be active.

It will be integral part of final version of M-2000C, so will require only the M2K key.

thx! Good to know.

With my purchase of this plane it say it require 1.5 or 2.0 and that it includes campaign and missions. Will it include them for DCS 2.0? nttr map when ready or we will need to buy again.

I don't really want to maintain 2 copies of DCS or play 1.5 again heheh.

Thank you!

For NTTR there will only be training missions included in the final release, and the Red Flag campaign will come some time later as a separate, paid DLC. So only one free campaign envisaged with the purchase - one of the reasons is that Caucasus is a free map everyone has, while NTTR is not... Plus building a good campaign requires quite a lot amount of time!
