Kill the process and delete the settings file. Or replace it by an older version.

I'm not at my home computer so I'm not able to paste the path here. But you can find it in this thread. I've already posted the solution before.

Thank you for this, do you know what resolution needs to be inside DCS so the FOV stencil does not affect the screen?

So, as far as I understand it, the Updater Utility should switch between two different Options.lua files, when I start with or without VR.

While the Utility DOES create the various Options.lua.backup, Options.lua.PRESET1 etc. files, it never updates them when I use one to start DCS with and edit settings, it always takes the basic Options.lua

What am I doing wrong?

VR On and VR Off Launch Modes dont control presets, user must change them on yhe Preset Dropdown menu.

Ah okay, thanks for clarifying that!

So best practice would be:

- select default preset

- start VR off

- set up Monitor settings

- quit game

and then

- select default VR preset

- start VR on

- set up VR settings

- quit game

and then

- select appropriate profile and start either VR on / off

(I mean, I will send back my Rift S anyway because it sucks, but that's another matter)

Still: thanks so much vor your good work, SkateZilla! :)

Correct,

In a few versions, at first it would AutoSelect a VR Preset when Launching w/ VR, but Users didnt like having no control over which preset they wanted to use.

I'm still weighing options of re-integrating the JSON Parser back into the App, which will require a few extra files to be present (.dlls) meaning the App will likely need to be moved from the desktop to a folder (ie /Saved Games/DCS Updater Utility/DCS Updater Utility.exe).

The JSON Parser DLL and code will allow me to expand on some features a bit more, in regards to Version Numbers, Branches Etc.

It was integrated and working cleanly at one point about a year ago, but I didn't want to force more files in the distribution package.

But seeing how the App now Makes a whole /Saved Games/ Folder for itself and files it generates, I might as well include it and have the app run from that folder w/ the DLL now.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey Skatezilla,

I'm still having issues with launching SRS from the app. Currently I'm getting an unhandled exception error, "The system cannot find the file specified." I've correct located the SRS directory, and the launcher button isn't greyed out. I've unchecked "launch as administrator" for srs, and added it to DCS Updater in case it was a permissions issue. I've also tried moving the SRS dir to C:\. I've double checked the config file, it reflects the current SRS directory, and updates when I change it. Other external apps, like TrackIR launch without a problem.

Windows 10, DCS OB, latest SRS build, AMD processor, if that's any help.

Thanks!

Hi Skatezilla,

I've been using your updater for a long time now, on a number of computers, it's been a real help, so, many thanks. I'm having a bit of an issue just now though, perhaps you can explain?

Currently, when I load the updater (new download, new 'install', new shortcut), the splash screen comes up, and the icon appears in the system tray, but not in the Task Manager / Task List. Then it disappears when I mouseover the icon.

I think it may be something to do with a recent W10 update, but I can't say for sure. It still works on my laptop, which is configured identically, and also has the most recent W10 update.

Any clues?

Cheers,

Phil

Try this. (It happens to me if I restart Windows without closing the app.

The app is running just outside the desktop).

Click on the icon on the Taskbar, press left alt + Space, a menu should appear. Use arrow keys down to "Move". Use arrow keys left or right to move "into desktop".

It will then "stick" to b the mouse cursor and you can drag it into focus.

Thanks for the suggestion - unfortunately it's that the app is shutting down, not that it isn't visible. It's almost like Bullguard is treating it like a virus, but it is on the whitelist...

Ahh... Misread that. I thought it was just sort of minimized. Well, bummer.

Right Click the App's System Tray Icon and Choose Restore Window from the menu options.

As for App Shutting Down, Try and Delete the Config File /USERNAME/AppData/Local/Skate_Zilla_Graphics_Stud/

I never enters the System Tray for me. Probably because I've turned outs System Tray notifications. But now I've set it to normal startup behavior, as that was empty. But it's not an issue for me, as my PC is on 24/7 anyway.

Thanks for a great app, I use it everyday!

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Which Launch Button?

Main Launch, Launch No VR, Launch VR, or SRS Launch?

There seems to be a extra "/" being added somewhere to the program path, just trying to determine which button is adding it to the Dim Array
