Make Sure SteamVR is configured.

I will double check this as well.

I know some of my games when using steam VR launches Oculus and Steam

Hello,

After the virtual desktop update this week, when I launch with the updater, DCS is a slide show...  I notice Oculus is opening also.  Not sure if this is due to the update or what is happening...  I have the quest 2, and it was perfect on Tuesday...  Now, I have to launch DCS through the virtual desktop app or it is unplayable.

Very confusing...

Hi all,

I have a problem using presets : I would like to use 2 presets, one for standard screen (3440x1440), and the other for HP Reverb G2 VR (different graphic settings, using 1280x760 res to quickly see if I am on correct version).

I have tried to "create" each preset by lanching the sim and specify 2 parameters inside DCS for each preset : in the 'Screen' version, I did choose "No VR" and "3440x1440" display, and in the "VR" version, I choose "VR" and 1280x760 display.

However, whenever I choose one of the two presets in Updater and launch DCS, I am always returning to the latest settings I saved in the sim, so the two presets are always identical.

What I am doing wrong ?

PS: got it after some trials and errors. Not sure what I did right this time, but resetting and selecting saved games folder paths did the trick (I also launched Updater in Admin mode, not sure if needed).

The Updater App saves profiles in the /Saved Games Folders, so having it specified is required, as well as launching the Updater App at the same permission level you launch DCS.

The Profiles are depreciated as DCS has built in custom graphics profiles now.

My steam is okay ready to run with all other game but not DCs with your soft. Idk why ?

Take your time, it's not urgent.

Thx a lot  😉

So is there a way to launch the standalone version of DCS through steam with an Oculus headset rather than with the Oculus API?

Thanks

I've found that when DCS unfortruanly crashes the Updater utility shows DCS Process still running and I can't launch again without rebooting. Closing and openning the updater will always show a DCS process.

Checking Task Manager there is no open DCS process

If I hit end process in the updater I get an Unhandled Exception error with the attached details.

If I run DCS again the updater shows 2 processes, but it runs fine. I just can't use the updater to launch until a reboot

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Just to update,

Next Version will likely be after 2.7 is Released,

The UI Shift and under the hood workings are still being re-done, it will condense a lot of code as well as space and graphics.

Some Functions like the App Presets may very well be disabled since DCS has pre-sets built in now.

@SkateZilla, on the app presets, just a thought, whilst dcs does have them, many still rely on a game restart to apply effectively, where as your app enables those presets to be applied as the game is started ... which is much more convenient.

would you be able to select which dcs preset you wanted from within your app so VR used preset N and 2d used preset X?

Many thanks as always

@SkateZilla, the DCS Updater / Launcher GUI Utility is essential - I appreciate and look forward to the update.

Last year I started adding more to DCS and found myself using the External Apps launcher to manually and or automatically launch utilities.

I am now using C1, C2, C3, and C4.

  • Will this feature still exist in the next version and will it be possible to have the icons adopt the default icon from the Windows EXE file?

Cheers and Thanks!

It's on my to-do list, depends on viability of the code.

External Apps was moved to the main window, so it's available 100% of the time

Edit, this is Done and being tested hopefully makes it to next release, when user selects an exe for the C1-C5 slots it will automatically import the icon from exe.

The 2.7 patch notes includes a line worth looking at, not sure what it means though:

Quote

DCS_Updater: Only allow to install authorized modules.

Does this mean anything regarding mods?

 Meaning, won't allow Mod projects?

Or am I not understanding this, and it doesn't affect mods present and future???
