The DCS Updater / Launcher GUI Utility Version 2.0 (2023+)

Recommended Posts

Just downloaded this and although the paths to DCS and Saved Games check out as correct I find that the Update and Repair buttons aren't clickable. Clean is plus launch etc. In the log it has: "Open Beta: Unable to detect branch." Also it shows "Disabling Updater buttons" so that explains that one.

Is this because it's the Steam version? Makes sense for the updating but why disable the repair? Or Steam again?

Screenshot? Did you select it, top left, after you configured the paths?
Cheers!

Probably. I was having some crashes and thought I would try the repair function but seems I cant. Game still works and only crashes when choosing something else to try but a restart usually sorts it. Cant complain as it is Beta! 😃

Thanks for your help though.

Sorry@Baz62
At the first page:

Application Goal is to Provide a GUI for Users as an Alternative to Complex Command Prompt Command Lines.
(Note: this utility is for the Eagle Dynamics' Distribution of DCS World, It will not function w/ the Steam Distribution)

To repair in Steam, use the integrity checker.
Select DCS in the left row, right click and select properties, select Local Files and click verify integrity of game files
Cheers!

Steam Version of DCS does not have the DCS_Updater.exe, which is the file used for the Update/Repair/Clean functions.

Steam Uses it's own file management.

Thanks I suspected that. Maybe I should move to the stand alone version although there are a lot of people having crashes so probably be no different.

Make sure all files in the zip are in the same folder, seems to be missing the newtonsoft.json dll, which is in the zip file

This app worked fine until today.

Today I had an Oculus crash, airlink did not work anymore, had to use cable link instead.

But now I'm unable to launch this app again, even without my vr headset.

I have the app title display then the app closes itself without the main window appearing.

Any idea why and what I can do?

I have of course the latest app version. Just downloaded it again to be sure.

Thanks

If App Crashes that involves enabling/disabling other screens (ie VR, Extended Monitors, Eyefinity, nVidia Surround, etc etc), then Coordinates will be corrupt, and the restore window option should be used, if the failsafe does not automatically move the app back to the main page,

Outside of that, if Presets were used, or if other items were running, the app settings file may have been corrupted, see 1st post for cleaning those settings.

I do not have any icon. I mean, when I launch the app I have the splash screen and the icon, but as soon as I go over the icon it disappears. As if the app crashes without any error message.

Thanks

Ok it worked, deleting the user folder for the app.

Now have to configure it back 🙂

This function is already handled by Windows Core, it'd be a waste of code space to integrate on an app level.
