You should try to rename the settings folder. It is somewhere in %appdata%.
I'm not at my private pc. So I'm unable to post the exact path.

Take a look at the first post in section Troubleshooting.

That worked, many thanks! 🙂

Likely because the AppData Folder was deleted,

During the Re-Write I am also recoding everything to catch more exceptions.

Skate,

First, thank you for such a great tool.  Recently however, after not using the app for some time, I've started using it again and get the error dialog box.   I've checked to ensure I have the dotnet framework updated, I've deleted the config file just in case and have triple checked my settings in the app, but I must be missing something.  Below is the error text.  Problem is I don't know what i am looking at.  🙂

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

This is related to the preset files and options files in the saved games folders, something is preventing the app from renaming them. I would suggest a clean out for all except the original options.lua if any others are present.

Quick Update:
Re-coding is ongoing, as well as GUI Re-working,
One decision I have finally made, after weeks of debating is anything 2.0 and Prior will be removed from the app (So 1.1.1.x, 1.2.x, and 2.0.x),

What does this Mean?:
-Removal of Alpha Branch functions (Alpha has been discontinued for a while)(Removal of Alpha Branch Install, Update Options, as well as Alpha Readouts).
-Removal of DRM Launch for Starforce DRM (Starforce has been removed for a while).
-Removal of the Old Training Modules (and the Tab) for FC3 Aircraft and related tabs (they have been replaced and non functioning since 2.5 was launched).
-Likely removal of Hawk T1.A from Modules list.
-App will still be able to detect 1.5/2.0 builds and launch, but modules from that era that have been discontinued will not be in the app.

If you want to continue to use the App to maintain legacy builds, I recommend keeping the current version just to maintain legacy builds, but this version will not be updated w/ new modules. If by chance the new core and GUI have a lot of issues when released, I may do one more update to the legacy app. if there is enough demand, possibly maintain both.

Also, another question I've been asked, Unofficial/Unlicensed modules.
These are community modules, that are unlicensed by ED. I will not include a Module I don't have permission to include, and every module must meet the criteria of:
-Module Must be Independent and Self contained, (ie Not borrowing DLLs, or EDMs from other modules)
-Does not rely on another module to be purchased, (ie Using FC3 Avionics, requiring FC3 to be purchased, or Using Su-25T avionics)
-Does not overwrite an existing module,(ie Replacing a module to use it's cockpit and Flight Model).
-Must be actively supported.

Correct.

Hopefully during the rewrite I can integrate a better way for profiles to exist, as they sometimes conflict when DCS crashes etc.

Hello SkateZilla,

I haven't used the launcher for a while cause I wasn't playing DCS in the last months, and meanwhile I have upgraded to win11, and yesterday I've upgraded to the Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22572.201.0 (windows insider, dev build) and I use the last version of the utility (7.1.2021 build 1.1.0.1042)
The mouse cursor is disappearing when hovering above many of the utility buttons, here is the list, if not listed it means it's fine:

Main Frame: Build, Preset, Launch, VR ON/OFF, Dedicated Server mode, Model Viewer, Update, Repair, Clean, Scan For Inst Mods, Inst Selected Mods, Uninstall Select Mods

Aircraft Mods: all mods pics

Campaign Mods: all mods pics

Theater/Tech mods: all mods pics

Unlicensed mods: all mods pics

Adv. Updater: all big Updates buttons, linsk to Eligable supported and Legacy versions, all language / license type config selection menus

App. Settings: Verify DCS Install and Saved Games Folders, Reset Build Name's, Clear Build Patchs, Clear Saved Games, Specify Custom USer Profile Folder, Clear Vustom Profile, Verify Path to Oculus-Diag Folder

I hope it can help you narrow it down.

This is a windows issue, and has been reported to MS, they have an issue with App Cursors and Apps that still use the older UI Elements.

The Aforementioned New version will use different UI altogether, which is still a ways off.

Have you tried hitting the update or repair buttons on the utility? Sometimes it happens to me, but only these 2 buttons are clickable..and after clicking one of them the rest are selectable.

Hi, yesterday my PC froze when the Updater was open, I forced shut the PC and restarted, and now when I open the utility the splash screen shows, but then it closes and the app doesn't open, I tried to download a new exe but It won't open, is there a way to fix?

There will be no more updates to this UI, you'd have to install with a command line, the new one is a bit away still do to re-coding everything.
it may not seem like good timing, but it had to be done.

no worries, it's easy enough to launch the modules installation from inside DCS

take your time and code us a killer new UI 🙂

I may update current UI to add all the modules missing through now,

I would just need to clean out any code that I was testing before the UI shift, and maybe update some parts with newer cleaner code.

I will evaluate this weekend, as I have everything available and not archived yet.

Just a quick question relating to the Utility.

Is there functionality within the Utility to run DCS using certain graphic settings for VR and non VR at launch. I have 3 presets within the sim that ive got for "VR", "non VR" and "Screenshots".

Im curious where in the utility i can set which of these graphic presets in sim to run before lauching DCS. I know there are "Presets" in the Utility but I`ve assumed that these refer to the Utility settings themselves(having specfici modules loading for example) and not in sim graphic settings?

Is there a way to set the Utility to launch using my in sim settings? If its there im not seeing it so apologies.

It's under the App Settings tab, open de app, launch DCS, just set a graphic setting to your liking, close DCS, set a name for the preset in the app and press apply.
Continue in the same way for more presets, then when all is done, go home page and select one of your presets there, it should start DCS with that preset when launched from the app.
Works nice!

I have two installations of DCS and this wonderful utility launches each properly. One is 'pure' and the other has changes in various lua files. However, I have also specified different saved games folder in the app settings for each. One DCS folder in the proper saved games location has many missions in its missions folder. The other DCS 'saved games'  folder in the alternate location has an empty missions folder. When I launch the 'pure' client which is associated with the DCS 'saved games' folder in the alternate location ( with the empty missions folder), the game starts up with all of the missions from the proper folder with all the missions. Both presets have green squares in the status column.

Then there is a button labeled  'Specify Custom User Profile folder'. Isnt that what the entries in the 'Saved Games Folder PAth' are? custom locations?

When I specify a 'Custom User Profile folder', which slot/build does it refer to?
